Type: Gen

“You can’t change what happened. The past is the past. That time is gone, you can’t control it. But you still have all the rest of time ahead of you! All of it is your gift - a gift that you can do with as you see fit. You can squander it - or you can start over. And you can do that every second of every day. Every moment of your life is an opportunity for a new beginning.”
Disclaimer: I don't own The L.A. Complex. I wouldn't know what to do with it. Now, Dean... Dean I'd know what to do with. ;-)
Thanks for reading! Feedback = Love. ;-) Please leave comments here at my LJ or at AO3 if it's not too much trouble.
Author's Notes: Written for the 2013 Spinoff Story Big!Bang. I would have never discovered The L.A. Complex if it hadn't been for Louis Ferreira's guest role portraying Dean Pirelli. The character fascinated me and filled me with both pity and loathing, a classic reaction to the tragic (anti) hero. I wanted to know what happened to Dean Pirelli and his children after the season (and, sadly, the entire series) ended.
The story is written in episodic narrative, in the style of a TV series pitch with broad sweeping summaries interspersed with scene dialogue, since the challenge was to develop a new spinoff series to an existing TV show.
My thanks go to Martin Gero for creating such compelling characters and to the actors for making them come alive. Special thanks to Louis Ferreira whose portrayal of Dean Pirelli made the character so heartbreakingly human with all his flaws. The character of Lou Kwanlin is modeled after one of my favorite First Nations actors, Graham Greene (who is in fact Iroquois, not Southern Tutchone). His quiet demeanor, his smiles, gestures and gentle voice helped create this character in my mind who is very much based on The Helper in Joseph Campbell's "The Hero With A Thousand Faces". Thanks to my patient beta readers and to tiggerrocks1 for the support. And finally, thanks to nickygabriel for organizing this unusual Big!Bang.
