#29 in which i go on and on about life since thursday in a not-very-compelling manner

Well shit ELO, what are you playing at right now. At work, waiting for David and Randy to stop chatting up Jacolby so that I can talk to him about work-related stuff like what the hell I'm supposed to do next. Shuuuut uuuuup guys...

So last time I updated was my gripey I-hate-work day. Which was long and boring and the entry itself was generally pointless. Really I ought to delete it. But I'm not going to.

That night, I went to the mainland on the 7pm ferry and saw my family for the first time in... a week. Haha. I'm sort of in Mission a lot these days, relatively speaking. It's nice though, I always find myself not really wanting to go home once I'm...well, home. With the fam, that is. Although being there also elicits some weird feelings too, so I don't know. Basically I'm fucked, haha. Basically.

So anyways, I went home, and it was my birthday on Friday. Happy 22 to me, yay, 'nother one down. I received some lovely shower gels from body shop, coconut yaaaaayyyyy, and some money which was very much appreciated haha. (I'msopoor). My mom baked me a lovely cake and took me out for lunch at Little Saigon, and I had delicious soup. Annnd she bought me a jacket and a couple tops which was nice and I felt really guilty haha.

I went to Jack Johnson with Michelle that night, so I drove out to Langley in the afternoon to see her new place first, it is verrrry nice. I can't believe how domestic she is. I look at myself and it scares me a little bit by comparison, aha. Anyways JJ was awesome, although I HATE G-Love (guest). There was this older couple right in front of us and they were AWESOME, they were like making out and acting like a first-love teenage couple the whole time and they were so funny. There was also this DOUCHE BAG guy like 3 rows in front of us, not RIGHT in front of us though, and he was HILARIOUS to watch, he had a stupid sky-blue polo shirt and this stupid white hat and he was just DANCING the WHOLE TIME, SOOOO into it. It was HILARIOUS, he definitely was not even in the same room as everyone else, he was just in his own world. Anyways, all-around a good experience, I'm glad I went. Such nice music. Saw Adam from work there one row ahead of us too.

Anyways I got home at about 2am so I just passed out basically. Saturday was relatively uneventful if I remember. I bought more shit that I didn't need, I hung around the house with Chris/Dad/Mom/whoever was in the room at the time and I took notes for my fish class. We had dinner together and then I went out for pie with Kyla later that evening, and we ranted for a while about things and then I went home and passed out by like 10:30. I'm such an old lady...

Sooooo yeah. Sunday. Pretty much same routine. I bought a multi-port usb thang for my craptop, because the friggin thing only has 2 usb ports. WHO CAN GET BY ON ONLY 2 IN THIS DAY AND AGE? Not me, with my external hard drive and usb mouse. Fooockin' Acer. Why did I buy an Acer. Ah well, lessons learned.

Anyways I hung around, spent time with my parents and Chris again, spent some time that morning looking through some photo albums of my parents' and I found dad's pictures from when he was in the Charlottes, so I took it and I'm gonna scan some pictures from it. I like to have these things. Some of the albums really brought out some unexpected reactions from me, it was weird.

The 7pm ferry was cancelled, so I ended up on the 9. I took notes off my laptop while I waited, so that was fine. I also discovered what a fickle friend the BC Ferries wireless network can be. I ate some ice cream, and then sat in my car and mostly just tried to nap.
Got home at 11:30, randomly did some emergency cleaning of the bathroom sink and toilet, put away my TONNES of clothes that I had brought over to wash back home, and then it was suddenly 1am so I went to bed. Result: extremely tired at work the next day. Oh well, it was a very slow day and I was surprisingly focused on the tasks at hand for the most part. Jumped around from project quite a lot gettin' little things done, which was good.

Went to 90s night last night. Saw some raccoons. Drank 2 bottles of wine. I lost my voice a bit this morning because of all the singing I did, it was good. Shorts were pretty god damn short, buuuut you know what, what does it ACTUALLY MATTER. Anyway it was pretty sweet, although a friend got kinda fresh with me and that was kind of unexpected and generally weird so I went outside for a bit to let that blow over. To be fair I guess the dancing was pretty suggestive, but for God's sake, it was "Baby Got Back", how do you not dance raunchy to that, haha. Give me a break.

Other than that bit of stuff, everything was great. $4 tequila shots is ALWAYS a good time. I don't know what everyone's beef with tequila is, it is delish.

Also it sounds like us ladies are dressing up as hard liquors this halloween. Dunno what we're gonna do. I'm either gonna be whiskey or moonshine haha. Either way there's going to be a lot of leather happening. Alexis said I should dress like a trapper. I said SEXY trapper, hahahahaha... So many hilarious ideas. I'm going to ruin it for everyone if I'm not careful.

So yeah. Got home at about 1 or 1:30, went to bed, got up, went to work. Here I am. I have been writing this between loading large quantities of points and photos. Le comp always takes some time to handle those tasks, so there's that.

Tonight I might go to the pool with some of the fabulous people from last night, but maybe not. I really need to study. I finally sorted out all my last-minute panic BCIT crap and I now have a prof to oversee my exam in a week today. I feel good about sorting that out. Dan Smith is my new favorite prof at UVic, he responded to my SOS within like 10 minutes and was just like "Sharon: easily done! Let me know how to make this happen!" when I asked if anybody could help me out by sparing an hour or two. He's a DENDROLOGIST, that is so cool.

I have a book coming in the mail called The Wild Trees, I'm excited. It is about the red woods. I need to go there. I NEED. To go there. And soon.

There is much that I need to do sooner than later.

That's what I'd say. I'd tell you everything, if you'd pick up that telephone. Hey. How you feelin? Are you still the same?
Don't you realize the things we did were all for real, not a dream? I just can't believe they've all faded out of view.

I look into the sky, the love you need ain't gonna see you through
And I wonder why the little things you planned ain't coming true
