hehe yayee~ no school tomorrow!!! My schedule is set so I don't have any classes on Friday (yesss) but I still have art club meetings....
Aaaanyway, so that means I can relax a bit and update!! My life is kind of divided into 3 sections right now: school, art club, and work.
I actually just came home from work today. My 2nd day!!! There was a huge wait between getting accepted and actually starting the job due to various reasons, ie: me not knowing my schedule because school hadn't started yet, having to go to a training course for the department store, etc etc. But alas, work has finally started!!
This is just for me, but I want to record initial impressions of the work and the people I'm working with. I wonder if they'll change after a while...??
So, I finally met all the other workers at the store. There are 4 in total (not including me) and the funny thing is....they are all short. Like, really short, as in a couple of centimeters taller than me. And what's funnier is that another girl is supposed to start working at the store and she is reportedly 180cm (6ft tall) with a rugby build, so it's like, 4 slight men and 1 large woman. Funny, no?
Anyway, there is Furuyama-san (F-san (29?)) who is the manager, K-san (27?) (it's easier this way, plus hopefully they won't be recognized, etc) who is the sub-manager, and 2 underlings, A-san (25) and S-san (22).
1. F-san: I didn't really get to talk to him much while I was working the first day, and the second day he wasn't there. I think (and this may just be first impressions, etc) I liked him better when we talked on the phone the first day...Maybe it's that he's been busy and I guess there's a bit of pressure being the manager and stuff so maybe my impressions are a bit off. He seems to be a bit on edge. But we shall see what he's really like after a couple of weeks.
2. K-san: He's strict but has a good friendly/joking side. He's also the one who gave me my work nickname, Nakaji--. S-san and A-san kind of gave me a warning about him, like how he may seem strict/anal but is actually just trying to do his job as a sub-manager (something like that). For me, it's good that there's someone like him because it makes me want to try harder so as not to get on his bad side. He's probably my second favorite. I like his willing-to joke/be friendly-ness, plus his straight-forwardness.
3. A-san: The shortest. But also the nicest!! At first glance he seems really loose(?), kind of like a garyu-o (I think it's the face + hair). But he's actually very gentle-spoken (??? I don't want to say 'soft-spoken' exactly) and just is very patient, considerate, etc. It's kind of a "phew!" feeling that he works at the store cuz I can go to him if I have any questions, etc. Suffice it to say, he is probably my favorite worker at the moment.
4. S-san: He's also very nice and friendly. I guess he's my third favorite...but it's only because K-san and A-san stand out more at the moment. It's good that he's at the store because he still makes mistakes, etc, so if I mess up it won't be like "why can't she be like everyone else??" It's easy to talk to him (it's actually easy to talk to both A-san and S-san) because he's near my age.
The other person who is supposed to work at the store comes in at the end of April so I shall report on her at another date!
My impressions so far of the job: Good! There's a lot of stuff to remember (like, how to record the day's profits, how to talk to customers, etc) but it's not that bad. It's really good practice for my keigo. I wasn't really using it much because everyone in the art club is younger or the same age as me, so this is really a good experience. Also, I have a whole new set of friends kinda, which should be interesting. It's always fun meeting new (good) people and trying out new things.
I shall update on other aspects of my life at another time!
