I am finally going to post something! I've been meaning to for ages but just haven't. Let me see... where to begin.
Our Christmas was good. In fact, it was great. The weekend before Kristofor and I drove up to Caliente to see his dad. I made a huge vat of my taco soup and brought it up for him. Then Kris, Nels, Andy, and I drove up to Mount Wilson to look at the land Nels wants to buy with Kris. It was nicer than I expected. We left and headed for St. George. Kris, Andy and I had dinner at the Pizza Factory, which was way better than I remembered! Then Kris and I headed for my mom's new apartment. We slept there and nearly froze to death because we couldn't figure out the super secret sneaky trick to working her thermostat! I thought she'd be home at about 8 or 9 in the morning but she didn't end up showing up until about noon. The three of us exchanged gifts and then had lunch at Red Lobster. We didn't stay long and I was a bit sad that I didn't have more time to visit with her, but it was probably for the best as limited time meant no fighting. Then Kris and I headed for Mesquite and visited with his mom and Bob for a bit and then we came home. On Christmas morning I got up early and started my turkey. Kris got up and we opened presents. I finished cooking and we then had a wonderful lunch of the most amazing turkey ever, very yummy dressing, candied yams, and green bean casserole. It was great to just have it be the two of us. Later that night Scott, Heather, Jake, Delphine, and Dan came over and helped us eat left-overs. It was a perfect day. Well, until they all started making fun of me for being such a huge geek (like any of them have any room to laugh at that!).
Alright, the geek story. So, at some point the girls had moved to the living room to talk and slowly the boys drifted in from the family room. At some point Delphine commented on a very cute owl ornament I had and I said something along the lines of, "Oh yeah. I guess I sort of have an owl thing. I mean I really like owls and I didn't really know it until recently. I bought an owl patterned top, and an owl patterned make-up bag... and I might buy this owl purse. Oh, and I really like owl pellets." This statement was greeted with a long pause of silence and then Delphine asking, "Owl pellets? What the hell are owl pellets?". I looked around at everyone and they were all looking at me like I was nuts. I said, "Oh come on. You guys know what owl pellets are! Scott? Jake? Heather? DAN!?" Nope. Not a one knew what I was talking about. So I explained that they are the bones and fur of the little animals that owls eat that they aren't able to digest. It's owl vomit. Eventually Kris came in and at least he knew what an owl pellet was. So, I grabbed the laptop and showed them all. Then I told them I was going to order some pellets and we would have an owl pellet party! None of them seemed too interested but they are all such huge geeks I'm pretty sure they'll enjoy it. :)
This post is getting rather long, and I'm tired, so I think I'll just stop here and I'll post more later.
