Windows Vista

So Sara and I decided to watch an episode of Babylon 5 on her laptop, which has Windows Vista on it. Keep in mind that this is an legal DVD of Babylon 5, Season 4.

She inserts the disc.
CPU usage goes up to the point where she can't run any other applications.
She selects the episode and it begins to play.
We realize that the sound is rather quiet. When we tried to turn it up, we found out that both the computer volume and the Media Player volume were maxed out. (On my laptop, that very same disc had an entirely different range of volumes)
About 4 minutes into the episode, it suddenly stops and we get the message (roughly, from memory): "Windows Media Player cannot play this content due to digital content protection."
Close WMP; open it again.
WMP refuses to play the disc.
Eject the disc; insert it again.
WMP plays the episode, but this time without sound (no settings have changed since the last time, neither the computer nor WMP were muted).
Sigh and give up.

Thanks, Microsoft.
