My personal 2008 in music post!
Basically, I fell in love with My Brightest Diamond in 2008. Immediate goosebumps on first listen. She gets the Golden Star. (And I love that song of hers.)

Her name is Shara Worden. I thought she was European when I first listened to her because of that voice! But she is American. I started with Bring Me The Workhorse (2006) which has a fusion of rock, orchestral and ethereal sounds; like a dream full of imagery from childhood, but the scene changes and death is taking over. Basically, my ideal music.
My Silver goes to Carina Round. She's British, based in LA, and just rocks my socks. I listen to her all the time during my workouts because she just makes me want to go crazy along with her.
Runners up: Fleet Foxes, Bat For Lashes, Laura Marling, Yoav, Northern State, Adele.... Surprisingly a couple of them got mainstream popular, no? (I don't pay much attention except when I randomly hear them on SNL).
It was definitely my year for new(ish) artists because I didn't get addicted to much other new stuff by artists I like. And sadly, I didn't get out to see live music nearly enough. I had a chance to see MBD and Carina in LA, but I wasn't up to going for some strange reason. I'm definitely kicking myself now.
