I'm glad I told the girls to go to sleep early cuz I definately ended up going to sleep at 2 in the morning. complications with the music. thank God for Kevin and his computer-savvy-ness. so our first competition was today. got up at 5:45am so i could be at Hannah's at 7am to start hair and makeup without having to rush my shower. The hair looked good, a lot less of a helmet than last year. and after makeup we looked like drag queens in person, but on the dance floor stage makeup looks so good. we got to our room at damascus hs, ate, practiced, goofed off, stretched, got nervous, and then went down to the warmup room. As captain, you get judged individually. I knew this going in, all of our captains had done this at all our other competitions, but it didnt really hit me until I was on the dance floor. I realized in a split second that I would have no down time whatsoever. Practicing in the gym gave me a false sense of when i could not smile and just breathe for a second. Competition made no allowances, the bleachers had people in them (instead of cafeteria walls) and one judge was watching only me the entire time. Personally I thought I did really well, but we were up against Good Counsel. I ended up getting 3rd place Captain's Award. Which is nice, I don't know, I guess I thought I'd do a lot better. Our squad got 4th overall, which isn't bad it just sucks cuz we got a 10 point deduction for a safety violation: safety pins on the outside of our uniforms. so without that we would have been 3rd. which is quite dissapointing. We safety pin our pants and shirts so our stomachs don't show, which would have been a violation. *sigh*. our next competition is at northwest, which we won 1st place at last year. Hopefully these 2 weeks will go really well and we'll change all the stuff we need to change (lines...ick). After this week of practice, rehearsal, pep rally, and competition, I feel like I could sleep for 3 days straight.
