Yesterday I went to the skin specialist to get a spot above my left eyebrow checked because if 2004's health dramas have taught me anything it is to get things checked sooner rather than later.
The appointment included the works though and this guy was THOROUGH. I mean right down to checking in between my toes, using a comb and checking my entire scalp, not to mention checking inside my mouth and lower lip as well. All okay except for the spot on my eyebrow. I felt like I was getting botox as they shot my forehead full of anesthetic so the Doctor could take slice off the little spot heh.
Anyway got a phone call this morning to say while it isn't a melanoma it has both the common Basal Cell Carcinomas which while not fatal are locally destructive and Squamous Cell Carcinomas which are the less common type and may spread through the body if not removed. So I have to have surgery so they can cut the bastard out.
I am so glad I went and got it checked when I did, especially as it is on my face and so close to my eye. I'm going to discuss surgery options with the doctor on Monday and I can get it done there (Coorparoo Skin Cancer Clinic, highly recommended) which is good.
So people, if you've been worried about a spot go get it checked now or I'll beat you ;)
