Just the other day I was asked to write a paragraph on trust and its overall importance in leading a good life. I took on the task thoughtlessly, thinking such a short writing on a basic topic would of course be simple. However, I was wrong. I had to first figure out what trust really was and where it comes from. Almost every interaction we have with other humans involves trust. We trust the decisions of those around us, we trust friends/family/lovers, we trust the drivers around our car, we trust the teachings of teachers, and so on. We do not just trust someone because they are living and breathing, we usually trust them because they have given us some reason to trust them. A person cannot "lose" trust unless they do something to prove them selves unworthy- it is dependent. Trust is dependent sometimes on looks, promises, actions, etc. It's not faith. It is baffling to think that the one thing that society and relationships are reliant on, is dependent on things that are fallible and inconsistent. The inconsitencies bring cracks which can tear down the greatest of relationships and turn brothers, neighbors, and countries against each other. No matter how smart a person is or how close you are to a person, they still have the ability to break your trust. They shouldn't, but the ability is still there. And we're dependent on this stuff? I guess it is nothing new to know.
If I was in a depressed mood (HA!) I'd worry about thinking of all this. Trust. WAHOO. Sleep, yo.
