One down, two more to go ...

That's the beauty of working a short week. Problem is, unless I take a vacation day, we get no other days off until Memorial Day weekend I think. Sucks.

And since everyone else is doing it (and Weemie asked me) here's my Christmas haul:

- 2005 calendar - I picked Scotland this year, which means I'll have some loverly scenery to stare at
- books (including the two Madeline L'Engle hardbacks I didn't have so my collection is now complete)
- shower gel
- lots of chocolate
- picture frames
- Passionada cd
- and miscellaneous other goodies, including chocolate and cash

All in all a pretty good haul. I didn't get Return of the King extended version, Divorcing Jack or the Star Wars Trilogy, but might get them in Round 2 so I'm going to hold off using my cash to purchase one or all of those for myself. Round 2 is this Thurs with my brother in Chicago. Speaking of, I drove down the train station tonight so I'd know where I was going bright and early Thurs morning. It's very easy to get to, and because the entire metropolis of Detroit (ok, maybe not the entire metropolis, but a good portion) has the week off, traffic was next to nothing during evening rush hour, which means there'll be hardly any in the morning either. This is a good thing.

I'd decided to plan my trip to my mom's around a stop in Ft. Wayne at Sonic. (Ft. Wayne isn't really out of my way - I just bypass it most of the time.) So, all the way down to Ft. Wayne (about 2 1/2 hours) I'm thinking how good a strawberry limeade will taste. I'd even gotten online before leaving so I knew exactly where I was going. So I get off at the exit, drive the 1/4 mile down the road and see the Sonic sign and get all excited (mouth watering as I could practically taste the drink) and then I see it. The big sign out front which has "closed" on it. I was not a happy camper, let me tell you! And I couldn't figure out if it was closed because (a) it was so cold; (b) it was Christmas Eve; or (c) they close for the winter; or (d) all of the above. I didn't stop on the way home because I couldn't stand to be disappointed for the 2nd time in as many days.

I think Griffin missed me. He's half lying on the computer, using my arm as a chin rest, which makes it extremely difficult to type. So, I think I will go, put in a movie and chill out for the rest of the evening.
