Warning for pet owners!

I don't know if it's the same where you are as it is here (WI) but those with dogs or outdoor cats need to be very careful of TICKS this year. In Wisconsin it is looking to be one the worst TICK years in a while. I've heard this from Park Rangers, co-workers, and our favorite dog trainer. Plus we now have personal experience.

We took Oreo for an hour to two hour walk on Sunday at our local State Park. It was gorgeous out and the walk was wonderful. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. But we ended up spending about an hour Sunday evening pulling ticks off of Oreo. We found 16 ticks on her paws and lower legs during that session - lucky for us that I have been working with her on letting us manhandle her paws and legs since we got her. And another in the middle of her chest on Monday night.

Luckily we have her on flea, tick, and mosquito meds. But for those to really take affect, the ticks have to take a bite. I'm currently looking for dog safe ways to discourage the ticks from biting in the first place. Any suggestions?

I just wanted to throw the TICK warning out there! Be safe!
