Suburbia

I walked the 3 miles + to my house sitting job in Burlington Suburbia this morning. Let me just say that the whole area is so perfect its scary, and while I have never seen the film, it's as if I'm in the town of Stepford. I find it strange that I have not seen or heard one lawn mower, yet everything is pruned and trimmed. Also, why aren't the people who have these insanely expensive and luxurious houses enjoying their gianormous decks overlooking the lake on a beautiful Saturday such as this? The lack of people is disturbing.

But I immensly enjoyed the bike path, with the wildflowers, cornfields, cow smells from the UVM farm and shady maple trees to rest under. When I got here my back was soaked from sweat. Ewwww. The cat welcomed me with a desperate gratefulness, and wouldn't get off me for a half hour. I love that cat :-) I walked to a lookout on Spear St. tonight, a little early for the sunset, but I'll have all week. Apple trees and baby bunnies everywhere. And I can't express how clean everything smells compared to the city. Not like Burlington is a dirty place, but a city none-the-less.

My new roomate is coming over Monday and Tuesday to bring some of her belongings, so I'll take the bike route down to welcome her and he boyfriend. Yay! Although, I must admit it has been very nice having the apartment to myself this week :-) After I'm done here next Saturday I'll have another week in B-Town doing more Howard center training before working at the daycare in Woodstock the following week. And then there is the course on systematic instruction the next! I'm really glad August has filled up, because the majority of July I really didn't know what to do with myself :-)
