I was walking up to my front door and taking my keys out so I could unlock the door. I was only carrying my purse, my phone, and a half-empty pizza box, and I was being really careful. Well, my cell phone dropped anyway. At first I didn't think anything of it because I've dropped my phone at least a hundred times since I got it last year. It's all scratched up and the most damage that's been done is that one small piece near the top broke off, but you can hardly see that. But today it fell and broke completely in half. The screws came out and everything.
I tried to put it back together, but that wasn't happening, so I went to the Verizon store, which is right up the street from my house. The customer service person took one look at the pieces and said there was no way it could be fixed. So I told her I'd just buy a new phone. When she pulled up my account, she said that my contract expires on June 19th and that if I bought a new phone before then I'd have to pay full price for one (and she said the cheapest cameraphones they have start at $199) or, if I wait until the 19th, I would get $100 off. So it makes more sense to wait a week and a half to get a new phone so I can save a hundred dollars.
But now this means I'll be without a cell phone for that time. She said I could bring in an old cell phone and they could have it reactivated, so I went home and found an old one, but now I can't find the charger to go with it. And this phone is so old that I doubt they even still carry the charger that goes with it.
Worst of all, is that my broken phone had a lot of pictures on it that I wanted but never saved on my computer, so I'll never see them again. And since I always use speed dial and never memorize anyone's numbers, I don't have anyone's phone number, so I can't even call the people I don't see in person on a regular basis. I did email some people and they gave me their numbers so I can at least call them from my house phone, which I hate using since it's not in my room. But the majority of numbers are gone.
I'm waiting for my mother to get home now so she can see if she has another old phone and charger that I can use. If she does, at least I'll have a phone, even if it's old. But if not, I don't know how I'll make it until the 19th without a cell phone :(
