Days like today make me all sentimental about driving around in my blue-green Sunbird during the fall in high-school. It's cool, the sun is shining, good stuff was playing on the radio. I used to use my lunch and attached free period (read 2.5 hours of free time) to just drive about the southern and western parts of Lubbock county with my radio blaring KTXT's weird alternative music OR the classical station. *sigh* It was so hard to point my car back toward my office building to come back after lunch. I felt almost like I should be headed back to Coronado with my violin in the back seat for orchestra class. Weird how certain things can all but transport us back in time. Even weirder how writing this has made me miss that little car. It was so plain.. no cruise, no tape or CD, no cup holders for god(dess)'s sake... but it was mine, it carried me and my friends around for all sorts of great times, and I wasn't responsible for paying for anything on it.
Ah well.. back to work I guess.. the more I write the more I want to go out driving some more to recapture that feeling...
