A/N - Well, I can honestly say that I have NEVER finished a multi-chapter fic this quickly in my entire life - and I'm really glad it's over because I've been spending waaay too much time on what was supposed to be a oneshot!!
This ending surprised me a little in that it turned out to be really short... but I don't think it needs to be longer. Still, sorry about that. Also, it might not be as, um, explicit as some of you were expecting - sorry about that too! I hope you all still enjoy it.
Thanks for reading this far - I've loved all the comments, and I hope the ending does them justice!
Cut Off - Finale.
The apartment was dark and quiet, and Penny kicked off her shoes by the front door and hurried silently through the living room and along the corridor to Sheldon’s bedroom. She took a deep breath to steady her nerves - and further berated herself for actually feeling nervous - and pushed open the door.
Penny had expected to find Sheldon laid out in the middle of the bed, but instead he was lying on his side on the far side of the bed, which was the side he slept on when she was over. Penny smiled and shut the door behind her. She crept over to the bed and looked down at him - he was fast asleep, and he looked so peaceful and adorable that part of her didn’t want to wake him.
It was a very small part of her, though, and easily ignored.
Penny pulled up the corner of the duvet and climbed up onto the bed, stretching out next to Sheldon. He woke up immediately, but slowly, frowning at the obvious weight shift on the bed and then blinking his eyes open. It had taken a while for Penny to get him to stop yelling ‘Danger! Danger!’ every time she moved, but he’d eventually got it.
It was pretty dark, but Penny could just about see Sheldon’s eyes, and when he saw her they widened momentarily before relaxing into a small smile.
“Hey sweetie,” Penny said, smiling back. She propped herself up one elbow, and cupped his cheek in her other hand, leaning forward to kiss the corner of his mouth. “Thank you for the brownies.”
Sheldon also sat up slightly, and his hand slid over to rest on her hip. He frowned. “You’re wearing your uniform,” he said disapprovingly.
Penny smirked. “Well, why don’t you do something about it?” She suggested, raising an eyebrow.
Sheldon smirked right back at her, his hand tightening on her hip. “I see you got my note,” he said dryly.
Penny smiled. “I did,” she said. “I missed you too. And I did eat one of the brownies, but it’s okay because I’m not intending to go to sleep right now…”
Sheldon was frowning again. “No, I meant… did you not see the note underneath that one?”
It was Penny’s turn to frown now. “No… what note?” She asked. “What was it?”
“It was a print-out of a reservation for the Dule Grove Hotel.”
Penny’s eyes widened, and her hand fell to Sheldon’s shoulder. “You changed the booking?” She asked. “Why?”
Sheldon suddenly gave her a very serious look. “Did you take the dinner shift tonight to avoid seeing me?” He asked.
Penny blinked at the unexpected question. She thought about lying for a split second, but decided that Sheldon deserved the truth. “Yes,” she said.
Sheldon nodded. “That’s why.”
“Oh Sheldon,” Penny said quietly, throwing herself into his arms. He fell back onto his pillows with her sprawled on top of him, her hands fisting his pyjamas and her face buried in his neck. Sheldon wrapped his arms around her back and held her tightly.
“I’m sorry,” Penny said. “It was so stupid, all of it.”
“It’s alright - I brought it on myself by being so irresistible,” said Sheldon. Penny couldn’t help but laugh, even though she knew he wasn’t joking. She placed a kiss on his neck and then leant up, grinning down at him.
“Thank you for changing the hotel,” she said. “You didn’t have to.”
“Evidently,” said Sheldon. “Penny, I assume from your actions tonight and what you have said that you came here with the purpose of engaging in sexual congress with me, is that correct?”
Penny raised an eyebrow. “Sheldon, we need to work on your dirty talk,” she said. “But yeah.”
“But you didn’t know I had changed the booking.”
“Nope.”
Sheldon raised an eyebrow. “So… you cracked.”
“Yeah I - what? Wait - no I didn’t!”
“Well you’re here, so quite clearly you did.”
“Well, maybe a little, but you cracked way before I did!”
“That’s irrelevant.”
“Oh is it now? I don’t think so - you even changed the hotel booking!”
“As I told you, that was a result of a desire for your company, not necessarily for sexual intercourse.”
“Yeah right - and that was why you jumped me yesterday morning?”
“That was part of a plan to make you capitulate - a plan which was highly successful I might add.”
“Oh you are so full of it! At the very least it was a tie…”
“I hardly think so! You can’t deny that - ”
“Sheldon!”
Sheldon’s voice trailed off and his eyes widened at Penny’s commanding tone.
“What?”
Penny sighed, and ran her hand over his chest. “We have two choices Sheldon,” she said. “We can keep arguing about who won. Or we can have sex.”
Sheldon pursed his lips, his brow furrowing as he thought about it. He actually thought about it. Penny rolled her eyes.
“For heaven’s sake!” She exclaimed, before ducking her head and kissing him.
Sheldon responded immediately, one hand burrowing into her hair and the other remaining wrapped tightly around her back, keeping her pressed tight against him. Penny was content to just lie there and catch up on days of lost kisses for a while, but after a few moments Sheldon pulled away slightly, just far enough to speak.
“I don’t see why we can’t do both,” he said cheekily.
Penny grinned and shifted her leg between Sheldon’s to rub her thigh against his rapidly growing erection. He gasped, and she leaned down to whisper in his ear.
“Sheldon, you’re not going to be able to think, let alone argue,” she promised him.
“Penny, I have an IQ of 187 and a mind that is without its equal in the whole world; it is entirely ridiculous to suggest - …”
