Somewhere on the East Coast:

"Holy, crap, what was that?" Leonard shouted from his place on the floor. He looked around at the shattered pieces of the teacup he had been holding when the...earthquake? had shaken him to the floor.

"I should have known to ask your sister to make the tea," his mother said disapprovingly.

"You're worried about the tea? Didn't you just feel that?"

"Not really, your father's not that skilled in be-"

"Ah! I don't need to hear that. It was an Earthquake."

"Not for me." She left him alone in prim living room, sitting on the floor, trying to think of the only possible way for him to feel an earthquake that no one else did in an area not prone to them. He glared at the couch, trying to think about the possible means for a couch to turn into one of those bucking broncos at the rodeo.
