Emmy nominations come out July 16. That's less than ten days away. Nominators have already sent in their ballots, and while it's very likely that the same-old, same-old will get nodded, here's hoping that some of the best of this year's TV season will break through despite their lack of popularity. And that's not to say the veterans don't deserve to get in too. My picks below include several Emmy favorites. But there's a far cry from Steve Carell's perennial brand of funny and Tony Shaloub's tired shtick that gets nominated every year. And the picks for the year's best leading comedy actors...the ladies and gents that you should've been watching.
BEST LEADING ACTOR, COMEDY SERIES
Zach Braff Scrubs, Alec Baldwin 30 Rock, Steve Carell The Office, Zachary Levi Chuck, Lee Pace Pushing Daisies
AND ... Jim Parsons The Big Bang Theory - Parson's line delivery drips with disdain and superiority, yet somehow makes his supersmart geek Sheldon all the more lovable. Socially awkward doesn't even begin to describe Sheldon, who Parsons breathes physical comedy into as he tries to navigate friendships and connect with other humans on a, well, human level. We may not understand the science jargon that comes out of his mouth, but we do know that it's hella funny.
