This episode killed my soul just a little. Part of me was thinking "Why does no one stop to think that maybe he's emotionally responding to the kiss itself (given that he's ether never kissed before or done so very rarely) rather than responding to the fact that he's kissing HER?" Given the weight that he's given to kissing he seems to rank it emotionally above sex and so he might have that reaction even more so if he was kissing someone out of passion rather than anger like say...Penny?
Anyway don't mind me I'm open to lots of different POVs on the events but in the back of my mind I'm still pulling for Sheldon/Penny. The writers seem to have the mindset that sex and kissing are the only way a relationship is shown as real or meant to be but with Sheldon and Penny I don't think it's as cut and dry as that...

Like you said, the emotional response to one individual is the canon fact of the series, for example, Beverly kissed Sheldon but he never kissed her back and was completely repulsed by it; I don't remember if Penny kissed him in the lips when they were doing the war of the sexes thing but he's shown to be non responsive to her there (in a sexual kind of sense, the only one that seems to matter to the writers of the show) but they show HIM kissing Amy and getting lost in the moment, so it is shown (by them) that Amy is his deal, regardless of how different he is from his friends ( ... )

I think this could be a case of them changing how he would normally act for the sake of him and Amy happening but then they've been changing he and Penny a lot from their early selfs anyway so aw well. Anyway I didn't mean to seem like I'm bashing Amy, I just think she'd work better with someone else.
It's weird how there's so much focus on 'end game' anyway with this series. It seems like so much of this type of series might do well without a true end since a lot of it doesn't have that same sort of plotline of say a How I Met Your Mother or even Friends or 3rd Rock From The Sun. I felt it worked best as a peek into geeky mindsets the mysteries of the universe show vs a 'who will marry who' one. (Not that there is anything wrong with romance)

I wasn't referring to you when I talked about bashing ;) it's just a very bad trend I've noticing for a while in this fandom.
And at the end of the day, most tv shows will end up in romance, I guess this was a peek into geeks maturing into men (or at least that's what they have been trying to do: marrying Howard, making Lenny and Shamy endgame, Raj being able to talk to girls, etc), I wouldn't have liked TBBT to stay static with never changing characters but I think the current situation isn't exactly what we signed for when we started watching.

The mindset that you have to give up being a geek (or at least give up gaming and quoting Star Trek as often) to be truly adult is just outdated and wrong to start with IMHO but that's the only huge beef I've ever had with the show as a whole. They want to get a REAL twist ending: make Penny become just as big of a comic or gaming fan as them by the end and have her get a degree in something that has her teaching at the same school as the gang. That would shake up the media world more than any romance endgame ;3 Maybe give the show one more season to...

In ever would've started if I knew it became this and just like all it ends up who's marrying whom.

Nope, just on the nose and cheeks. I was doing screencaps of the scene for something (I can't remember what now) and she did get close, but not quite there.

I have shipped Sheldon with a lot of people in the showYou and most of the fandom :D IDK about the Pit, but on AO3 he's paired with Penny (waaaay out in front), Amy, Leonard, Raj, Wil, Missy... I know I've read Leslie, Bernadette, and Howard (that last by accident; it's one of the few pairings I can't get my head around). I find it totally hilarious because canon would have it that he's asexual but as far as fanon goes he's the fandom bike ( ... )

AO3? Why would their be a paring between Missy and Sheldon? That's gross.

Oh geez, have I told you lately how much I love your Sheldon/Missy fic? (Especially Pas de Deux, although I might like your Sheldon/Missy/Penny even over that.)

It makes me wonder how Missy and Amy would get along, too. With the way things are going, we might have wedding bells for Sheldon and Amy in the near future, which could be a good sign for the ladies interacting!

You know, I always thought I was going to cop flack for deanoning that, but people loved it. (I guess if anyone didn't, they knew YKINMKBYKIOK and didn't remark?)

The series medically needs more Missy. I was furious when her last appearance was completely off-screen. But it made me think, wedding bells aside (oh and we'd see Amy's mom again, which would be aces), what if Missy came up to Pasadena to show off her new baby to Penny, but also to check out her brother's girlfriend? I mean, I imagine at this point she and Mary would probably be happy that he's dating anyone, but I can see her wanting to vet Amy a little. (Actually, I wrote that fic too. Because WRITE ALL THE THINGS.)

OH GOD I KNOW. That was the episode where she had the baby, right? And we only heard her?

I can totally see Missy wanting to vet her brother's girlfriend, which would preferably end with bonding. Also, since this is my wishlist and I can do what I want, at that point Amy would reveal that her long-lost best friend and maid of honor is actually Leslie Winkle, which is particularly awkward since Leslie once had a kinda sorta possibly not-sexual thing with either Sheldon, Missy, or both. (Tiny parts of me will always cry out for Sheldon/Leslie.) (Or Leslie/Penny.)

They should let us plot the Shamy wedding episode. Hey, wait, THEY SHOULD LET US PLOT THE SHAMY WEDDING EPISODE.

Right, and we didn't even hear Missy, we only heard Mary yelling at Sheldon. (Although "Get back in here and bring a mop!" made me laugh for like five minutes straight ( ... )

Leslie and Amy were in one episode together, but they never interacted. It was the season 3 finale, when Leonard went to see Leslie and then Sheldon met Amy at the coffeehouse.

Ooh, that's right! I remember being so happy to see Leslie show up and then so disappointed she wasn't around for more.

I'd love if they revealed a long-time friendship between Leslie and Amy! Or Leslie and Bernadette, even - did those two ever interact?

Faisal! I am always wondering about Faisal. My headcanon for just about every Sheldon/Penny fic I write these days has Amy eventually being whisked off her feet by Faisal and she goes on fabulous world tours and gets shown off at high-class parties and does science! and never wants for funding. I don't know why I love that, I just do.

Wonder if there's a good way to do that scene in fanfic - where you realize everyone's in the room, totally invested in the conversation? It's a great image.
