I really liked Sheldon and Penny's interactions in this episode; Jim and Kaley have an excellent dynamic together. And I loved Sheldon talking about the future of his relationship with Leonard and Penny; I'm very fond of the way the three of them play off each other

I always liked Bernadette, but latley she is getting hard to take. The constant yelling is real old and I thought it was weak how she defended Stuart and then caved at the end. I thiunk Howard's growth is overblown at times. To be honest, not much growth from these characters. Hopefully we see some from Penny now.
Yeah, they do kind of beat the Bernadette=Howard's mother drum a little too hard sometimes.
Penny/Career is one of my number one ships, so if she genuinely does get a chance to change things up, whether she furthers her acting career or finds something else entirely that she can do as a job and enjoy, I'll be happy.
Howard's growth is highly over rated. Getting married doesn't mean anything. If you're immature, getting married means you'll be an immature married person unless you work very hard at it and even then who knows. Another easy, symbolic gesture from the writers. "Oh we'll marry him off and that will show big growth". Yea because everyone who is married is mature, filled with growth, and introspection. Not.
On that note, I really don't think Howard can justify saying that he's grown up so much when he's still doing things like telling Bert that Amy's a lesbian to get him off her back. I resent the notion that the only reason a woman can possibly not make herself available to a man is either that she's already partnered or has an incompatible sexual orientation;
In defense of Howard that scene was proceeded by Howard and Raj relating to Amy rebuffing Bert to their own incidents of rejection in the past. When they volunteered to tell Bert that Amy wasn't interested him, they decided the lesbian thing would spare him scars and the hurt feelings that they felt all their lives when rejected. It was done more as a way to protect the poor big clueless guy.
I seriously doubt that that was their motivation, considering the way that they were laughing about it. There's no reason that they couldn't have just backed Amy up on the fact that she has a boyfriend instead of lying.
I have to go back a watch that scene as I wasn't too enthralled and it's possible I missed something. What I recall is Raj and Howard reliving their hurt and embarrassment of being rejected and their faces looked down as they reminisced. So as they walked out of the room the "we're telling him she's a lesbian" was their way of letting him down easy in order for Bert to avoid getting hurt because they related to him. I thought Bert knew she had a bf and it didn't back him down at all? I mean, would Raj and Howard telling him again have made a difference? idk again I watch for Shenny and semi tune out these useless subplots.
The thing here is that the whole series of interactions was about stereotypes. Bert was inverting some common 'Nice Guy' stereotypes when he openly admitted that he had a repellent personality, although I think it's more likely that he was self-negging in an attempt to garner sympathy from Amy, which initially worked

Yes the sub plots this week were useless, and usually they are always useless, because tptb try to shoe horn in the many characters the show now has on it's payroll. I still watched the show and saw the scene you posted about, and I can reply to it if I like. Problem?
Frankly, I thought your post was off the mark so I responded.Not getting into all the lesbian crap again. I explained my pov already and that's that.
Um, no, no problem, I was just a little bemused since you seemed pretty disinterested in the subject matter.
And that's okay; not everyone's familiar with every trope and reference that the show uses. I've just come across the nice guy thing way too many times!
