emp_sisTitle: Knowing Meeting
Rating: PG
Word Count: 1512
Prompt: AU. Penny believes in psychics, what if she happened to have that talent? I'm curious to know what their first meeting would've been like, with a Shenny pairing of course!
A/N: Hope this is somewhat like you wanted. It kind of grew a mind of it’s own and turned into a very Penny-centric stream of consciousness…
The moment the landlord opened the apartment door, visions blasted into her head, one after another. Flashes of costumes, science equipment, really tight pants, gaudy t-shirts, nerdy glasses, laughter, tears, so much emotion, strong arms, lips ghosting across her cheeks-
“Are you alright, miss?”
Penny shook her head and let the visions fade away. She smiled at the balding, pot-bellied man. “I’ll take it.”

Penny has been psychic since she was five. Her memories before the accident are very hazy, like a dream that dances out of reach when you try to remember what it was about but you know the overall feeling it gave you. After the weekend in the hospital due to an intense concussion and brief coma, Penny began to see flashes of scenes that had nothing to do with where she was or who she was with.
Luckily, they were always about her or people in her life. But there were times when the visions would come at the most inopportune moments or showed her things she would much rather not know. Like when she saw Tommy making out with Kacey under the bleechers while she was in class. Penny tried to live her life as normally as possible, ignore the visions and not tell anyone about them.
Her parents were surprised when she came downstairs one morning and announced she was going to California to become an actor.
“Did ya see yerself acceptin’ an Oscar?” teased her pa. Her mum smiled but her eyes seemed sad. Penny skipped over and kissed her cheek.
“I saw myself in Pasadena at an audition!” she squealed. “And I just have this super good feeling about all this, you know? I gotta try to see if it’ll work out cause that would be so amazing!”
That afternoon, she and her mum where booking a flight and looking up apartment buildings.

There are times when Penny’s visions can be wrong. Especially when she approaches a crossroad. She tries to not let herself get influenced by the future so that she can write her own instead of blindly following a path. But there are times when she forgets.
“Hi. I’m Kurt.”
Penny stared up, up, up into the stormy grey eyes of this muscled, well-endowed man and was suddenly bombarded with images. Hand holding hand, smiles stolen across a table, falling asleep with a strong arm wrapped around her stomach, flowers being handed to her, tears streaming down her face, harsh words being thrown at each other, two body moving as one, the air full of moans and whispered words.
She smiled tentatively up at him. This was bad. Those visions were filled with great things and some bad but she had and overall sinking feeling. But so many happy moments. And this Kurt had fantastic drool worthy arms…Penny sneaked a quick glance down his torso. And what looks like a great body.
Her smile grew. “I’m Penny. I’m new here. Want to show me around?”

Penny left her door wide open. She smiled in anticipation of meeting her new neighbors. She was a bit surprised at her vision. Smart nerds where not usually her type. She was popular in high school, a cheerleader. While she never bullied or teased the less cool, Penny never went out of her way to hang out with them. Yet perhaps this was time to try something new. After the disaster that was her relationship with Kurt, perhaps some people of a different nature would be good for her. And her visions looked very positive.
Suddenly, she heard voices on the stairs. Bouncing happily, she made her way over to a pile of boxes that could be seen from the door and opened the top one up.
“New neighbor?” That was the short one with thick glasses. Penny was wary of him. One set of visions showed him and her on dates and laughing while watching Star Wars and early morning kisses as they made French toast. But she also saw hero worship. He had her placed on a pedestal of the unattainable and constantly worried that he was not good enough for her. Yet, he thought her dumb and kept pushing her to go to college so she would have something to offer and so he wouldn’t have to introduce her as ‘my girlfriend the college drop-out’. Going down this path would be tricky and not always happy. That sinking feeling she had gotten when she met Kurt re-appeared. She was much more tempted to back away from that feeling now.
“Evidently.” Penny’s breath caught in her throat. That was the tall one. The one with the oh so drool worthy forearms…a body part which she never considered all that sexy until she saw into her future and caught a glimpse of this stranger. Now his path intrigued her and scared her. He was abrasive, selfish, condescending, too intelligent and socially awkward. But her heart pounded at what else she saw in her visions. Sexually tense debates, laundry nights, movie nights, glamorous science galas, sweet kisses stolen in commercial breaks, hot sex that didn’t really look like sex but more like making lo-
“Significant improvement over the old neighbor.” The short nasal voiced guy interrupted her thoughts and Penny gulped as she saw the moment arriving. The moment where she would have to choose. The most important decision of her life.
“Two hundred pound transvestite with a skin condition? Yes, she is.” At this, Penny took a deep breath and turned to face the boys.
“Oh - hi!”
“Hi.” The short one.
“Hi.” The tall one.
“Hi,” the short one said again looking dazed. There’s the hero worship, thought Penny.
“Hi.” The tall one looked confused as to why his companion repeated his greeting.
“Hi?” Penny said, smiling. Should she just slam the door shut and forget her visions completely and run away from this fork in the road? Go back down the road she came from?
The short one took a step forward. “We don’t mean to interrupt. We live across the hall.”
“Oh, that’s nice.” Penny’s thoughts raced.
“Oh-we-uh-no…we don’t live together. I mean, we live together but in separate heterosexual bedrooms.”
Penny chuckled. “Oh, ok….well, guess I’m your new neighbor. Penny.” She came forwards. No going back now.
The short one introduced himself. “Leonard,” and pointed at the tall one, “Sheldon.”
Penny smiled and got caught in the pair of the bluest eyes she could have imagined. Her mind stalled and she managed to spit out another “Hi.”
And the circle started once more.
“Hi.”
“Hi.”
“Hi.”
“Hi.” Leonard nodded at the floor. “Well, uh, welcome to the building.”
Penny tore her gaze away from Sheldon and determinedly looked at Leonard. “Aw, thank you. Maybe we can have coffee sometime.”
Leonard’s face lit up and Penny’s stomach dropped. Nope. Definitely now following that path. Hero worship and heartache. Not the future she wanted for either of them. They had a strong friendship vibe that could prosper and grow. Penny could be happy with that.
“Great,” he smiled.
“Great,” repeated Penny.
“Great,” said Sheldon and Penny’s gaze once more drifted over to him.
Leonard awkwardly waved. “Great…well, uh, bye.”
“Bye,” smile Penny.
“Bye,” said Sheldon and Penny’s stomach began to flutter.
“Bye,” said Leonard and Penny quickly shut the door. Oh dear. Sheldon. Sheldon Sheldon Sheldon. Why Sheldon? She could practically feel their auras merging already. What a name, what a character. Could she really handle all of the quirks and habits? She saw visions of him not letting her sit on his spot on the couch, getting mad at her for touching his food, making her rub Vicks on his chest while singing an absurd song about cats and fighting and fighting. But, she also see him helping her make flower barrettes, running lines with her, cataloguing her shoes for an app, making her food, helping her study, letting her sit with him on his spot of the couch and many hugs, laughs and kisses.
She leaned against the door. And he is so skinny! But those hands, arms and eyes…she hadn’t seen him smile but she bet a real heart-felt smile would turn her into a puddle of goo. There was just something that made her want to poke him and get a reaction. She wanted to push him out of his comfort zone and support him.
This path would be hard at first. So much harder then with Leonard. But it would be more rewarding. Penny bit her lip. Is she really going to choose Sheldon?
A knock on the door startled her. She waited a moment and then opened the door.
“Hi…again,” said Leonard awkwardly.
“Hi, “ chirped Penny, her eyes on Sheldon.
His eyes looked up and stared at her for the tiniest of moments before flicking back down to the ground. His hand tightened on his bag strap. “Hi.”
Leonard jumped in. “Hi.”
Penny inwardly sighed and turned her attention back to Leonard. “Hi.” Yep. She was going to choose that beautiful mind genius guy Sheldon.
