It all comes down to this
I can’t believe he’s leaving, Penny rails silently. Tears course down her cheeks. She wipes at them with the saturated, balled-up tissue clutched in her hand. Two knocks sound at her door.
“Yeah?” She calls and scrubs her face with her hands. Leonard’s head pokes in.
“Hey Penny, we’re going…are you crying?”
“No.” Her lip trembles.
Leonard comes farther in the apartment, “Um, okay. We’re going out to dinner, sort of a last hurrah,” Leonard’s smile is weak, “ Do you …”
“Leonard!” Sheldon’s voice snaps. “If we don’t leave now for dinner, I shall be forced o use the facilities on the plane for tomorrow morning’s bowel movement.” He appears behind his roommate. Penny’s tears are barely restrained at the sight of him.
“Hello, Penny.’ Sheldon greets her.
“I don’t think so, Leonard.” She gulps. Sheldon looks from Leonard to Penny.
“Is she crying?” He demands. “What did you say to her?”
“Nothing.” Leonard protests.
“Penny, “ Sheldon’s tone is clearly annoyed by her weepy display. “Now, what has you so upset?”
Penny clenches her fists, “Seriously, Sheldon?”
The tall man crosses his arms over his TV test pattern and tilts his head. Leonard catches a quick movement from Penny; he tugs at Sheldon’s shirt.
“Yes, Leonard?” Sheldon looks down.
“You better duck.”
Penny’s Hello Kitty coffee mug smashes against the door frame just over Sheldon’s head.
XXXX
The moonlight coming through Sheldon’s window brushes him silver. Penny stares at his sleeping form. She pushes up the strap from her pajama tank top that has slipped down . Everything Sheldon needs to know is in the letter in her hand.
She places it on the nightstand. A sob escapes her but Sheldon doesn’t move. When Penny turns to leave, her wrist catches. Turning, she sees Sheldon has taken hold of her. He is sitting up in bed, covers piled around his waist and a firm grip on her wrist. His eyes hold no haze of sleep. As always, when they fall on her, they burn.
He tugs her arm. She walks forward, climbs on the bed, straddles him. Her strap slips down again.
I’m sorry I woke you, the dip of her head tells him.
No matter, his fingers reply as they ease the strap back into place, trailing heat. Next, they move to rest over her heart. He looks at her.
Broken?
Her slow blink tells him yes. Sheldon leans forward and places his lips where his fingers had been. A soft kiss followed by another. His other hand presses her breast up so it swells to the top of her tank top. His tongue gives a sweep, just grazing her nipple. He leans back against the headboard.
The silence of the room cocoons them in this moment. Penny’s hand lands on his chest. Sheldon’s heart thuds. She feels the attraction under her palm that’s been there since they met. Another beat, the denial of his feelings. His hand covers hers; the hurt pulses thorough his white t-shirt.
Penny leans forward but Sheldon turns his face away. Her lips land on the exposed tendon of his neck. His hands hold her hips. His thumbs trace lazy circles at the joints. Now? He allows this now with only seven hours left to them? Her mouth opens. She bites down savagely. The grip on her hips is painful as he tries to push her off without yelling. Penny bites harder. Pulling. Sucking. Breaking blood vessels. Skin. Sheldon continues to push. His breathing is ragged and rips the silence to shreds. Penny hangs on for all she is worth. Slowly, he creates a rhythm, forcing her down over and over the hardness under the sheets. He manipulates her, thrusting, thrusting, thrusting. Her thin sleep shirts are no barrier at all. Only the mouthful of flesh keeps her from crying out his name when she comes.
Penny sits up. Lights still flash in her peripheral vision. Her hand shakes as she reaches to pull back the cover.
No, cold and cobalt.
He takes her face in his hands. The callus on his thumb scruffs her bottom lip. The bed creaks when he pulls her mouth to his.
Stay, Penny’s gentle first kiss.
Don’t leave, her lips part.
Stay with me, her hands twine his hair.
That’s when the anger comes. Sheldon’s tongue invades her mouth. He tightens his hold on the sides of her face.
How could you not know?, his tongue strokes behind her teeth.
Why didn’t you see?, he pulls her to lip with his. The headboard taps against the wall with their movements. She feels his teeth as he crushed his mouth over hers, making the kiss deeper.
They change the angles of their heads. The room’s quiet fading under the creak of the bed, the snarl of the physicist beneath her. Sheldon nips at her tongue as it searches for his. Blood fills their mouths. The kiss breaks and Penny swallows the taste of him.
Sheldon swipes the back of his hand across his mouth. There is alight smear of blood there now. He gathers her to him again. Their lips are hot, swollen and sore. The kisses now are close mouthed. Penny moans. His hands grapple with her hair. Each pull on her locks informs her that he won’t stay.
I know how I feel now, she parts her lips.
You don’t, his tongue strokes. You’ve made that very clear.
I was blind, she takes more into her mouth. There is the taste of toothpaste, cinnamon mouth wash and the faint hint of grape juice he drank right before getting ready for bed. Sheldon emits a visceral groan.
I’ll come back.
She reels back as if he has just slapped her. He may as well have.
Don’t, her lips attack his. Her teeth slice his full lower lip. Sheldon jerks away. Penny grabs the back of his head and forces his mouth onto hers.
Don’t lie now, the collide of her mouth on his warns. Sheldon feels his bottom front tooth chip. His erection stabs at her. Penny allows herself one last grind against him before climbing off him and walking out the door.
XXXX
Sheldon woke before his alarm the next morning. He showers and dresses. His eyes slide unseeing past the mark on his neck. The cut on his lip. He packs a few final items then zips his carry-on. Leonard is ready to take him to the airport. Sheldon exits his room for the last time.
On the night stand that is no longer his, he leaves the letter.
Unopened.

The Trouble With Heroes
Penny sighed and stared at the ceiling, counting all the people she'd kill today if she couldn't have a shower.
“Ok, this time, you're going to work.” She leaned over, and tried the shower again.
Nothing.
“DAMN IT!” She screamed.
She was already naked, wrapped in her towel. She had the deep conditioner in her hair, she looked like shit, and there was no way she could wash her hair in the sink because it was full of dishes, and she didn't have the time to do them. She had to be at work, in about 30 minutes.
She was debating the wisdom of washing her hair in the toilet, when someone knocked on her bathroom door.
Knock knock knock “Penny?”
Knock knock knock “Penny?”
Knock knock knock “Penny? Are you alright? Have you fallen again? You screamed.”
Her head sagged. This day could not possibly get any worse. She opened the door, and stared at him unhappily. “My shower is broken again.”
He blinked at her for a few seconds, taking in the hair, and the towel, and the skin “Then why don't you use ours?” He stated matter-of- factually.
Her mouth opened, but she couldn't think of a valid reason why not, it just hadn’t occurred to her.
“Fine ok, let's go,” she waved her hands, “come on, let's go, I'm going to be late!”
~P~
She sighed and hit her head against the wall repeatedly. She heard him pause outside the door. “Don't you dare knock. Just, GET IN HERE, and turn on your damn shower!”
The door opened and he came in. “It's very simple Penny, you just do this.” He reached in the shower and wiggled the tab and suddenly the shower came to life.
“Thank you.” She sighed, dropping the towel and climbing in, stepping into the spray immediately.
Sheldon gazed at the towel on the floor with his eyebrows raised, thinking about how the Hero always peeks, and he'd already done that once, and what did Heroes do the next time...
He turned to face the shower curtain, and pulled back the top bit, and her eyes flicked over to him, her hair slicked back and trailing down over her shoulders and back.
“What,” she asked, “are you doing?”
He leaned in, grabbed her chin, and pressed his lips to hers.
She gasped, and he captured her upper lip in his, sucking on it gently, tasting the water that was running down her face. His tongue flicked out to trail on her bottom lip, tasting the water there, and her lips moved, sucking on his lower lip. Then her tongue was in his mouth, and she had her hands holding his face, moving her mouth against his, the water running over them. His head blocked some of the spray and she was able to look through her lashes at him; his eyes were closed, he seemed kind of stunned, but his lips were still moving, and his thumbs were trailing along her jaw, lifting her face towards him, and his tongue tentatively entered her mouth, trailing along hers, feeling her teeth...
And then a door slammed, and he lifted his head away. Their eyes both wide open, staring at each other. He seemed to suddenly realize that his head was soaking wet, that his shirt was drenched at the shoulders and his arms had trails of water snaking down them towards his elbows. He stepped back and closed the curtain, and she heard the bathroom door close sharply. She peeked out, and he was gone.
“Sheldon, you're dripping wet, what happened? Why is the water running?” Leonard's voice asked.
“Penny couldn't get the shower started again.” Sheldon's voice sounded normal, and she breathed a sigh of relief.
When she exited the bathroom a few minutes later, dressed in her cheesecake uniform, her towel in her hand, she smiled at them both and tried to escape without discussion.
“Have a nice day.” Leonard called.
She paused, and then smiled at them both, but mostly at Sheldon. “I will. Thanks for the help Sheldon, you're my hero.”
He smiled down at his laptop secretly.
Sometimes the Hero does more than peek.

Summary: No hamburgers? Ridiculous! Impossible!

The Cheesecake Factory Freezer Fractal
A fractal is a nested pattern that shows the same symmetry/geometry at any scale a pattern is looked at.
Tuesday evening and Sheldon was sitting at his table as always. What was different was that he was alone. “Hey Sheldon. Where are the guys?” She had her notepad out, but it was really only a prop. She remembered orders easily - and his was probably already on the grill once the cook saw him sit down.
“Leonard is still at work and Howard is sick. Raj dropped me off and went over to check on him.”
“Wouldn’t his mother take care of him?”
Sheldon shrugged.
“Well, I’ll go get your drink then, and make sure your barbeque burger is on,” Penny turned on her heel to head to the kitchen.
She was at the drink station pouring his lemonade, when the cook, Ed, came up behind her. “Penny, we have a problem.”
“What?”
Ed looked at her wide-eyed. “We’re out of hamburgers - you’re going to have to tell your boyfriend to order something else or go home.”
“Ok. One - how can we be out of hamburgers? It’s one of the best sellers! Two. He won’t order something else - what part of “Crazy Hamburger Guy” did you forget at our last staff meeting? Three. He won’t go home without his burger and four. - He is NOT my boyfriend!”
“Whatever doll. You can go find some in the freezer or you can get him something else. He’s your problem - I got other orders to fill.” And with that, Ed went back to work.
Penny took a deep breath and went out to deal with Sheldon. “Here ya go sweetie,”” Penny began, giving him his drink, spilling some.
He looked at her warily, “What? Your hand is shaking.”
“Sheldon,” she sat down across from him, “I have bad news - The Cheesecake Factory is out of hamburgers.”
“Ridiculous. Impossible.” Sheldon shook his head. “It’s one of this establishment’s main menu item other than the cheesecake.”
“That’s what I said!” Penny put on her most convincing indignant face. “The cook did say there might be some in the freezer.””
Sheldon got up and pulled on her elbow to follow, “Then what are we waiting for?””
“Sheldon! I can find a box of hamburgers myself, you know. I do work here!””
“Nonsense. I’ve been in your freezer before and know how disorganized it is - we’ll be able to find a box that much faster with the two of us.”” They were at the freezer door - with Sheldon pulling her along, she’d had to step quickly to keep up with his long strides. He threw open the door and pulled her in - the door shutting quickly behind them.
“No-o!” Penny tried to grab the handle to the door but it was too late. “Dammit!”
“What?”
Penny jiggled the handled a few times, “The latch to the freezer door has been sticking lately.”
Sheldon moved her away from the door and tried to open it as well. “It would appear you are right.”
“Now what?” She shivered.
“We find the hamburger boxes,” Sheldon began to look around, “someone will notice you missing and be here soon.” He started to sort through the cheesecake boxes. “When does Bernadette begin her shift?”
“She’s probably here already,” Penny relaxed slightly, though still shivering. Bernadette would notice her missing. She began shifting boxes of french fries.
“Success!” He held up the box of hamburgers. “There are several here.” He put the box down as he noticed Penny shivering more. “Are you cold?”
“Wow - great observation for a scientist.”
“Sarcasm.”
Bonus points for not saying it as a question, Penny thought to herself as she pointed to her nose.
Sheldon moved towards her and wrapped his arms around her, “In the Arctic, one night we lost power, and Howard, Raj, Leonard and I had to huddle naked to share our body heat and survive the night.”
She’d heard - well at least a version of it - from Leonard. “Sheldon. I am. Not. Taking. Off. My. Clothes!” But she curled into his warmth.
“I doubt it will come to that.” Sheldon raised an eyebrow with a corner of his mouth. “However we should keep our options open depending on how long we are in here.”
Penny looked up at that and caught his half-smile. She poked him in the ribs playfully, “Not gonna happen, Moonpie.”
“Don’t,” Sheldon tugged her closer, pressing her hips closer to him, “call me Moonpie.” His strong grip was still clinging to her hips.
“Whaddya gonna do? Give me a strike?” Sheldon’s smirk had turned to a sneer. “Cos you know how well that worked for you last time.” Penny grinned wickedly up at him. She wasn’t sure why she was taunting him- in a locked room no less! No escape to her apartment when she pushed his buttons.
“This.” Sheldon took one hand from her hip and grabbed the back of her head - long fingers in her hair, and pulled her up - crushing his lips to hers. She made a noise at the back of her throat that might have been “Stop!” or could have been “Don’t stop!” She wasn’t too damn sure of anything right at the moment.
He gave her a moment to breathe. “What was that?” Penny’s eyes were wide.
Sheldon’s were dark as he looked down to her. “An effective way to stay warm.” He pulled her lips to him again - this time taking her bottom lip in his - first with his teeth lightly pulling then his tongue lightly swiping it.
Then again. Again.
And dammit, if he wasn’t right as always. Penny was very warm. Her hands fell to his waist, tucking them under his shirts, and into the back of his pants - to keep them warm of course, she rationalized.
Sheldon was curved around her - Penny barely had to stay on tip-toe any longer. His lips moved to encase hers - his tongue darting in just enough to brush along her lips. Once his tongue broke into her mouth, his hand moved from her hip and grabbed a cold thigh with his warm hand and pulled her up against his hips.
Penny moaned. His tongue was darting in and out of her mouth. With the same rhythm, Sheldon was moving her thigh against his - back and forth.
She moaned again. Again.
This is what she ran from when she pushed his buttons? Penny wanted to push them all as she felt his arousal against her denim Cheesecake Factory skirt and her Tuesday panties underneath.
Sheldon’s mouth left hers and trailed down her neck. He pushed aside her uniform blouse and bit down hard where her neck met her shoulder.
“Sh-Sheldon!” Penny gasped. She wanted to ask why?- how? - but no words would form as he started the rhythm again. Bite and lick - at her neck. Back and forth - her thigh and his hips. Her hands slipped further down the back of his pants and pressed him even closer to her.
Oh.
Oh.
“Sheldon” Penny groaned. He pulled his mouth from her neck and captured her lips again. He pressed his lips roughly to hers and kissed her deeply while his hips bucked - losing their rhythm.
Penny was close. So close.
Close--
A click and the door swung open, revealing Ed with his hands on his hips.
Penny and Sheldon were off each other fast. Sheldon picked up the hamburger box and held it in front of him. He walked past the cook, head slightly bent - a boy with his hand caught in the cookie jar.
Penny straightened her skirt to follow him.
Ed frowned. “Penny - girl - don’t be making out with you boyfriend at work, huh? If our manager had caught you - well you’d be fired - and I don’t want to see that. Save it for the bedroom, doll.”
“He’s not my - fine.” She nodded and walked past him.
Penny went out onto the floor, and Sheldon was sitting at his table looking as composed as usual.
“I left the hamburger box in the kitchen. May I have a new drink? This one has been unattended for too long to deem it safe to consume.”
Penny rolled her eyes. Same Sheldon. And only a few minutes ago, he’d had his tongue down her throat! “Fine. Do you still want your hamburger?”
Sheldon’s eyes went from hers, and moved slowly down her body. “Yes. I am very hungry.”
Penny’s eyes went wide.
Oh.
The End.
