Jim Parsons interview with TV Guide Magazine (spoilers)

Apr 12, 2010 10:17

Jim Parsons didn’t exactly do the famed Lynda Carter spin to suddenly end up as Sheldon costumed as the world’s most famous comic book superheroine on tonight’s episode of The Big Bang Theory, but he did give TV Guide Magazine a little insight as to what it was like to wear Wonder Woman’s star-spangled boy shorts. He also dishes about the prospect of Sheldon’s upcoming love interest, played by Mayim Bialik - not to be too spoiler-y, but even Parsons doesn’t quite know what to make of that encounter - and his ongoing hopes that Sheldon’s beloved mee-maw will show up in the form of another major TV wonder woman.

We heard you got to dress up as Wonder Woman.
I had to dress up as Wonder Woman, let’s be honest.

How was that for you?
Not bad. I didn’t have to show as much flesh as Kunal [Nayyar] who was Catwoman, and showed the entire midriff. I did have a tight-fitting one-piece on that literally had a star on my crotch, and that was odd. And I thought after my first fitting that might actually change - and it didn’t. That’s what we went with. But bravo to our costume designer, because she always makes the right costuming choice. And sex sells, so there.

And despite that outfit I hear that Sheldon may have a love interest later this season?
I’m not playing coy. I’m telling you as an actor: I don’t know what the hell happened!

Which is exactly how it should be with Sheldon, right?
I agree! But I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop. Mayim Bialik and I, we were rehearsing all week, and I finally said ‘I keep waiting to figure out what the hell we’re doing!’ And it never happens. And I think you’re right: it didn’t feel wrong because of that. I keep saying, where was the other shoe to drop and the answer provided. There was no answer provided! The answer provided was that apparently it had gone fine and we weren’t doing it anymore, and they were like ‘Okay, we’re moving on, we got that scene.’ And I was like ‘Okay!’

Have you put the word out to Betty White yet that you would love to have her on as Sheldon’s mee-maw?
Well, I saw that it came out in a couple of articles that it had been mentioned, but as far as being proactive, I haven’t done anything. I wouldn’t know where to find her. I don’t know that anybody else has yet, so I don’t know.

There’s a very good chance we’ll talk to her this week. Is there a message you’d like to pass on?
You will? Send my love! Nothing would thrill me more than to get to act in a scene with Betty White!
