Members of Paradox, a few changes are about to occur! There are a few too many of you to continue things as they are. Please understand that these changes are for the improvement of the community, an effort to better your experiences here.
MODERATED POSTING
As membership and activity rise, so does neglect of the community’s rules. This means that guaranteeing appropriate content has become increasingly difficult. For several months, we have debated and discussed the solution to this problem and have determined that the best approach is moderated posting.
If you're unfamiliar with moderated posting, the gist is this: A moderator must approve an entry before it is viewable on the community. When a new entry is posted, each moderator will receive an automatic notification. After a moderator either accepts or rejects the entry, the member will receive an automatic notification. In the case of a rejected entry, a moderator will leave a note with an explanation as to why the post was rejected. Once the problem is fixed, the member may resubmit the entry.
Moderated posting is effective as of now.
TWO RULE REVISIONS
We have revised two rules, and we think it’s important that we share the specific modifications with you.
• ORIGINAL: Act respectfully and maturely. Do not disrespect one another or any person associated with the production of The Big Bang Theory. Use discretion: Do not insult one another’s opinions or fanwork; do not discuss the personal lives of the cast.
REVISED: BEHAVE LIKE ADULTS: Do not disrespect or provoke one another. We will not tolerate any racist, sexist, homophobic, or otherwise discriminatory conduct, nor will we allow discussion of the cast and crew’s personal lives.
We cannot stress the message of this rule enough. You may not all be legal adults, but you are certainly old enough to know what crosses a line. Remember that your opinion is not everyone’s. We shouldn’t need to emphasize how unacceptable racist, sexist, or homophobic comments are. Do not do it.
Lastly, the private lives of the cast and crew of The Big Bang Theory are just that: PRIVATE. Whether a person is gay/straight or single/in a relationship is not relevant to Sheldon/Penny, so you shouldn’t need to discuss it.
• ORIGINAL: Remember you’re posting to a public forum. It’s in the interest of the community that members post only content that will benefit other members. Paradox is not your personal journal. If you’re unsure if the topic/content is appropriate, please contact a moderator or the post will be deleted.
REVISED: Off-topic posts should be posted to the off-topic community:
paradox_ot. If you’re unsure which community to post to, read
this.
[More about the off-topic community below.]
This said, you should review all the rules. Following the rules makes the community much more pleasant and enjoyable for everyone. Likewise, your moderators can devote more time to arranging activities and discussions. You may find a simple, direct list of the rules in the profile and a detailed explanation of the rules in the
rules post.
OFF-TOPIC COMMUNITY
We created the off-topic community in order to keep the focus of the community where it belongs (Sheldon and Penny) and to minimize spam.
Off-Topic Posts Include:
• meta (discussion about the Sheldon/Penny and/or The Big Bang Theory fandom)
• articles about or interviews with Jim Parsons or Kaley Cuoco unrelated to The Big Bang Theory
• anything that reminds you of Sheldon/Penny or The Big Bang Theory: comics, people, products, films, communities, pairings, etc.
• personal stories
• intro posts.
paradox_ot is officially open. In the next few days, we will be holding a moderator election to choose two members to help us run the off-topic community.
PLEASE NOTE: To ensure that this post is read by as many member as possible, we will be freezing posting for twenty-four hours. Posts will be moved through the queue beginning tomorrow (Saturday) at 7:00PM EST.
