Let’s see if I can explain without it being too long.
In American slang, ‘Hooters’ means an owl or a woman’s breasts.
‘Hooters’ is a restaurant/sports bar with an owl logo. All of the waitress’ are really skinny, wear VERY short shorts and have big breasts. http://www.hooters.com/Home.aspx
America is known for being one of the most overweight nations in the world. So, of course Americans like to blame the fast food chains (McDonalds, Burger King, Braums etc…). Not everyone is overweight because of fast food. We are a nation that likes to blame others for EVERYTHING. To me that sign is the restaurant taking a stand. I LIKE THE SIGN.
*NOTE: I personally do not blame the fast food industry. A person’s weight is dependent on many factors. Genetics can play a factor - my own sister for example. But I personally believe if a parent is going to blame a restaurant for their child being overweight, shouldn’t they also be blaming themselves for allowing that child to eat that food in the first place? -Maybe I’m wrong.*
Well, I don't like fast food... so I don't eat at McDonalds or Burger King and so on... and don't get me started on the ecological footprint... but I agree, it's not really the fast food chains fault... each of us are responsible for our own lives, and the parents are responsible for their children so.. :)
