On Tuesday my daughter had an allergen test done. - For anyone who doesn’t know what that is, little needles (25 in Maghen’s case) are dipped in various things. You lay down on a bed while a doctor pricks you with those needles. If your skin reacts to the prick it shows that you are allergic to the substance and how badly by the size of the reaction. - I have gone through an allergen test before. I was about 20 years old at the time though. It hurt, badly.
My daughter is 6 years old. It took me every ounce of power I had not to make them stop. I hate seeing her in pain and somehow I felt as though I was putting here in that pain because I made her go.
The test showed that my daughter is allergic to feathers - FEATHERS. Only my daughter would be allergic to something as weird as that. FEATHERS, REALLY!!!
Luckily though it is not a food allergy. I have one of those. I know how big of a pain that is. Always having to remember where you can eat and where you can’t, having to look at ingredient lists every time you go grocery shopping.
Also I am happy her allergy is not as bad as mine - at least not yet. She just gets sick. She don’t go into shock.
I am glad she had the test done however. She is always getting sick. Living out in the country where she has acres and acres of land to play on she gets into everything. So it is good to know what she has to stay away from now. When she starts school this year I just have to remember to inform the office and her instructor just in case they have an art project with them.
