Virus protection software suggestions?

I've been having mucho problems all day long with my computer. Freezes, constant shutdowns with no warning. At one point during a reboot, there was a huge red square on the screen - no, I'm not kidding ( Read more... )

McAfee and Norton both use boocoo's of ram when you use them. I ditched both for AVG. There's a new version: 8.0
But you may want to download the free version of spybot and run it. It may be adware that's got you.

I had the newer version of AVG running before - just installed the upgrade about a week or so ago.

There've been no unexpected shutdowns since starting Firefox in a new session and I'm really wondering if it was that vodka website that was doing me in.....

Trying to decide if I should reinstall AVG when I get home from the temp job tomorrow just to see what happens.....

Ummm.... spybot's already found over 200 problems/errors.

That's bad, isn't it?

Apparently there are over 1000 problems/errors according to spybot. Unless I buy the full version, it'll only repair 15......

That's not good
Read the fixes carefully. I don't delete all my cookies because I want some website to remember mebut let it, for the most part, fix what it finds.
