Yesterday I received a phone call....
"Katie...are you sitting down?...
Derick is dead."
Death is such an awful strange thing.
The sorrow is unquenchable, yet some how it teaches you how to live more abundantly. Through all of the pain I have witnessed I have come to realize that this life has no guarantees, so we better live and love with all that we are.

so lets live, I mean truly live. There just isn't enough time to waste it on anything but the TRUTH.
Derick was one of the most thoughtful guys I have ever met.
I will never forget all of our trips on the bus to santa monica...and the Beatles magazine he just randomly spent 6 bucks and bought for me.
Derick had some of the most amazing pants I have ever seen in my life.
Such a heart for kids.
