Got yet ANOTHER infection of some sort on Saturday. Woke up with pain from my ear down my throat so bad that I wanted to poke my ear in hopes of getting relief. I waited until my Dr.'s office was open and called them, but they had nothing open that day so I went to a walk in clinic. A couple of hours later I walked out with a prescription for azythromiacin and cleared of having strep. I ended up missing the Goo Goo Dolls Sunday night because I felt like crap and stayed home on Monday. On Tuesday I called an ear, nose, & throat Dr. because I'm TIRED of this crap. These various sinus related infections are becoming more frequent and add the vertigo from March on top of what seems like muffled hearing and constant ear clicking, I decided it was time to step up my treatment options. Got an appointment for this morning.
Then on the way home from work Tuesday, a jackass rear-ended me. Totally his fault. I had come to a stop in the median on a highway waiting for a car to pass and just as it was passing me and I was getting ready to go, I got hit from behind. The guy driving the truck said he was paying attention to the traffic on the highway and not where I was. Apparently he wasn't paying that much mind to the traffic either because he missed the car I was waiting for and didn't realize that, while his timing to get across would be perfect, it wouldn't have given me time to get on the highway. My car is two months old TODAY. How am I celebrating this anniversary? Driving a stupid Jeep Compass rental that smells funny. Joy. Thankfully I have no injuries and I'm not too freaked out driving around, though I think that I will be avoiding that particular intersection for a while.
So, this morning I brought the car in and picked up a rental then headed over to the ENT. Described everything that's been going on with me lately and had my hearing checked (perfect was used to describe it) then had the Dr. stick stuff up my nose and look everywhere. I have a deviated septum (starting to think all humans have this) and there are irritants that is causing my mucus membrane to go into over drive. That, in turn, causes irritation in the rest of my sinus system making everything swell. The clicking I hear when I swallow? Not supposed to be there, that's the tubes coming from my ears into the sinuses trying to open up when I swallow, so they aren't draining right. Treatment? Nasonex for the next 5 weeks. If I don't have any improvement, allergy test to see what it is I'm allergic to exactly. Don't know what is going to happen beyond that, but the idea of being on a nose spray the rest of my life isn't making me too happy. I'm allergic to Florida, I didn't have these problems back home...
