Just read the first three chapters to Alice in Wonderland and I'm not a fan. I may finish it just to say that I've read it, but I can't see how I could ever enjoy it. I don't like Alice. She bothers me they way Sally from a Nightmare Before Christmas and Carrie from Sex in the City does. They just seem like vapid hollow shells of real people. It's as if they exist only to tell a story. I like for my characters to have some semblance of reality to them. I read books where all sorts of bizarre things happen, but the characters are multifaceted and their reactions are things I can relate to. Alice? She just goes down the rabbit hole? Then just eats and drinks things that appear in front of her? Maybe my mind is just too analytical to go with that form of thinking. I can't help but to think about long term consequences and such.
