Song: No More - Three Days Grace (Youtube with lyrics)Notes: It's based around two scenes: Kakariko Village and then the last meeting in the Temple of Time. I cut out a lot of the dialogue because of the word count.

Well I'm sorry for the late entry. My gosh... time just flew by @_@

“Link… are you alright?” Sheik asked as he leaned over the awakening Link.

The hero roused and looked up to see rain pouring down on them and also on the fires that ravaged Kakariko Village. “Wh-what was that?” He asked, his voice trembling.

“The evil shadow spirit has been released.” Sheik stated and glanced out at the several townspeople rushing around to douse the fire now that the well had been freed of that dark being. He watched them frantically trying to rescue their children from falling debris. He saw the men fighting off the remaining monsters that had started this entire thing. Then he turned back to Link, his expression solemn. “And this is still just the beginning Link.”

Link, too, looked out to the people.

“Will you destroy the evil and save Impa?” Sheik asked. His red eyes seemed to be pleading for something.

Will you save me?

Link’s hand grasped onto Sheik’s wrist. “Of course Sheik.” He said, and even though courage shone bright in his eyes something else was underlined, and it was that something that made his body shiver, his voice tremble, and his grip to tighten.

Fear.

Sheik’s other hand reached out and held Link’s cheek, his thumb rubbing the bone there.

“…Why couldn’t I see it Sheik? Why was it invisible to my eyes?” The rain that fell on Link’s face made it difficult to tell if he was truly crying - for the tone of his voice had hinted at it.

“I can only do one thing for you…” Sheik whispered, and his lyre appeared. “Listen to this, the Nocturne of Shadow. It will lead you to the Shadow Temple, as will it draw you into the infinite darkness that absorbs even time.” And soon, the melody fell from his fingertips.

.+++.

“Sheik…? What’s wrong?”

There was tension in the man’s frame - and maybe a slight tremble.

“I… have been waiting for you Link.” Sheik whispered, tightened his fists, and did not look up at the hero this boy-man had become. “You have overcome many hardships…”

He felt a hand on his shoulder and he finally looked into those blue eyes that lacked fear.

“Sheik, shut up for a minute.” Link said seriously.

“…Link?”

“Something is bothering you - I can tell. What is it?” His eyes softened with concern and his other hand moved to hold the opposing shoulder. “You can tell me, you can trust me.”

“I trust you.”

Sheik bit his lip and his trembling increased to a noticeable level. “But Link I…” He looked down at the floor. “I’m afraid… not just of trust, but of everything... of nothing… I’m afraid of the future and of the past.”

Link pulled Sheik closer to him, holding him in an embrace. “Don’t be afraid. I’m here. I’ll protect you. No matter what happens.”

Sheik looked up at Link - feeling so close to this man who was the hope of Hyrule, and… the one he had come to appreciate. “No matter what happens?” He whispered and received a nod in return. After a brief moment of hesitation, Sheik leaned up and pushed his bare lips to Link’s before he pulled back. Once he finished his speech, his mission to Zelda would be complete, and he would be free to leave this land that held so many painful memories. He stepped back, a twinkle in his eyes while Link touched his own lips.

“Remember that, Hero.” Sheik said. “And also remember that now you have a final challenge, a showdown with Ganondorf…”

Come and find me Link. Believe in me, as I do in you.
