something needs to change

I'll probalby write a post about this in the guild forums later, but it's not all game related and right now I just need to vent...

Right now I'm just kinda frustrated.

First off - last night we raid ZG - lots of fun. But it was missing something. I enjoy raiding and all, but the atmosphere in Vent at times seems way too serious. I'm hoping that with time with time we'll get more laid back while still being able to raid efficiently. The reason I'm in Thorns instead of some other guild is not the raiding (though that's fun) is that it's a laid back place where I can chill with friends.

Speaking of friends - isn't that what our guild is about? Last night, people were literally YELLING at each other - WTF. I prefer to leave Vent open for any discussion/talking, but do I really need to moderate it? Which brings me up to the point that really disgusts me.

We lost a memeber to the guild last night.

This wasn't because one person pissed him off. This wasn't because he left for a raid guild. This was because people were as he felt, "treating him like a moron". Last night was apparently the last straw. The thing is, he did exactly what I would have and I'm sure most people would have. The world server went down - he was in Vent. There was no one in his channel, so he moved to another channel (being the raid channel) to see if other people were also having problems. What followed was just sad. We mentioned how our raid was going and he mentioned how his was. All he wanted as to not be left out. And what did we do? We shot him down and practicly told him to go away. I don't know who all it was, but at least 5 people chewed him out for being in the channel. I don't even know if they were all RT people but some of them were. And non of those people were in charge of the raid. The last thing I want to do is start treating people like children and not letting people talk freely, but people need to learn to respect each other.

While most of us have high level characters - there's still a large part of the guild that's fairly new. If this weren't true, then we'd be stagnant. While it's great that we're moving into raiding and I hope we retain more of our high level people in doing so. At the same time we can't ignore the lower level people as they are the 'future' of the guild.

I never thought being an officer in a casual laid back guild could be so hard. It doesn't help that there's several other major things going on in my life (posts to follow) and right now I'm reconsidering about every decision I've made in the last year or so....

I'm just looking for some stablity in the middle of work / home / social (gaming).... and right now I'm not finding anything.
