I've just finished watching the program I recorded the other night, an American Masters segment on Jeff Bridges. I had no idea. Obviously it caught my interest because I had just seen the new Tron movie but I had no idea just how versatile an actor or artist he was. The breadth of the films he has been in is fascinating but, beyond that, he is a man of extraordinary talent. He's a singer and musician (I've still yet to see the Fabulous Baker Boys) but also a photographer and painter and sculptor. It was a fascinating look into the life of a man who has spent a lifetime inventing himself over and over again.
And yet he himself does not seem to see anything other than a search for who he is inside and in relation to the rest of the world. Introspective. It was enlightening and perhaps a bit sobering for anyone who thinks they know exactly who they are.
