I went to see the doctor today. He walks in looks at my foot puts his hands on/around the foot and looks at me and says "do you want to walk again" Right then for some reason a vision of some evangelist faith healer went through my head. He coulda then gone on to say "Be Healed" and the moment would have been complete. Instead he said ok let's get some x-rays and make sure.
So basically a month earlier than expected I've been promoted to "weight bearing" and cleared to walk. Now saying I can walk and actually doing will likely prove to be very different beasts. Still it's good to feel like I'm making progress. Soon the moment of truth will come along and we find out if all this was worth it and whether I can walk pain free or really at all effectively. For the moment I'm not pushing it to hard to find out. One small step at a time, and a lot of stretching, elevation, ice, and anti-inflamitories
Oh and I counted the pins and screws and I have 16 screws and 4 plates in the foot. Looks like they shoved a nike tennis shoe in there sideways and laced it up. ok that was what it looked like when I saw the x-ray. Speaking of which I got copies of today's x-rays. I've still gotta get the early one where we have crushed bones etc but at least I remembered to get these.
