That is the day I met my son! I went in for a non-stress test on friday the 15th, and my water was low so they decided to keep me and induce. Oh bliss! So at 3pm they started my pitocin, and I went to sleep. So did Dan, and Marvin and Pedit who were there spent the day talking about video games. I slept through the first 4 centimeters. I hardly felt them! Then they told me I was at 4 and they could give me an epidural to ease the pain of contractions. I wasnt feeling any! But I knew I would, so they gave me my epidural. Soon I was having to breath through contractions to keep from pushing. They said I was at 7. It seemed like maybe ten mintes later I told Dan he needed to go tell the doctor I REALLY want to push! I also said I doubted it was time though. Nope, I was at 10 and ready to go! Dan went...somewhere...I cant remember where. Oh yeah, he went to grab his mom's camera while they checked me. So when he came back I was up in the stirups and getting ready. He was on one side of me and his mom was on the other as I pushed our son into the world. I heard his mom exclaim "Well HELLO Damien!" and then I heard him cry. I kept trying to look down, but all I could see was his feet. Dan said "Can you see him? Can you? Look at him! Can you see?" and I told him "I see his feet...." They took him over to weigh and clean and stuff, and his mom went and got pictures on her digital camera, then brought it back to show me. I was getting stitched (I tore a tiny bit) and cleaned. They wrapped him up and handed him to me, and everything was right!

After I got cleaned up and covered again, Dan went out to start the parade of friends and family wanting to see Damien. I was so happy! My son was so loved by everyone! He will have the large close family I always wanted!

Dan went to make calls, and then we settled in for the night. They kept me for two nights, and Dan hardly left my side. He roomed in with me, so he helped with the late night feedings (not much since I'm breast feeding) and also was there to help take care of me. I never had a guy stay with me after childbirth, and it was a joy to have his help and support! Dan is so great with Damien. He can change him, dress him, and can swaddle him better than I can!

The first time he held his son, Damien started crying. Dan grinned and said "That is one sound I will never be tired of, and I will come to help day or night when you need me!" I chuckled and told him he better remember that promise, but inside I was glowing! What a wonderful father, and a wonderful man!

I have pictures and will be posting them soon. And his name has changed. We added Dan's grandpa's name to honor "the one man I (Dan) ever looked up to".
