Sounds like you had a wonderful day and I'm glad you were able to enjoy it!
I haven't gotten to go to a Shakespeare in the Park in such a long time. I miss it. No one to go with, for one, because they can't understand what they are talking about. I don't know why. I've been able to understand Shakespeare since I started reading him in school (7th grade I think). Maybe I need to get all my old books out and dust them off. Methinks I will.
It was SO good, for serious. I wish I had gone every day this weekend! The one in the park was free, but I'm thinking of going to it across the bay next weekend--it was that good!
I've always been the same way! I've never been able to understand what people don't understand with him. Go by yourself, seriously. I've decided to start doing that because I'd miss so many things I loved because no one ever wants to go. You'd get some peace, some time to yourself, and get to enjoy something you really like. I highly recommend it!
Weren't they gorgeous? I was amazed! Everything before had been simple dinner dress and then WHAM--those. *in drama dork heaven*
Micah likes Macbeth. May get him to go with me, but, yeah, I'll have to try going by myself. My Mom asked me once, "How do you read that stuff? They're not even speaking English." My response, "Mom, they are speaking English. You're just not listening in English." She's left me alone about it since.
They were gorgeous! They didn't look like they were thrown together at the last minute. I hate going to something like that and the costumes look like shit. It ruins everything.
I apparently need to actually read Macbeth. How I've avoided it this long, I have no idea. But one of the English Club members today said he loved that one but hated Hamlet! o.O I told him he was no longer a member. ;) Hee--that's cute. I've gotten the same thing. "It's not English!" To which I respond "yes, it is." "Well, it's not English English." *facepalm* If they don't get it, they don't get it. Let them read and watch Gossip Girl. [I remember rolling in the aisles while we were reading Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. I merely got funny looks.]
Yeah--they said they were going back to fuller costumes, but I was still surprised. :D
ohh stacie, dear. the nekkidy greg, he is up, and he works too! :D :) and don't worry the entry's locked so it's safe to come back and actually get it! :)
By the by, this play looks really fun to go to! :) And while we're on the topic...
What's your fave Shakespeare play to read? To perform? To see live? To watch a film or tv adaptation of? DO tell! :)
Mine list goes like this: Read? Macbeth Perform? Hamlet See Live? Hamlet/Romeo & Juilet Watch Film? Romeo & Juliet/Hamlet
Merci beaucoup! It just finished and I shall be watching the loveliness soon!
It WAS really amazing! Now, I wish I had gone Friday and Saturday as well.
To read or see live, Hamlet. You honestly find something new every time (well, you do with any of his plays, but that one especially). And I LOVE to see how different companies do Hamlet--the Hamlet/Horatio relationship is always developed at different levels, the Ghost is always fun to follow (like is he visible all the time, sometime, never?), and the casting. Most of the troupes that I normally see use traditional troupes--they have a set number of people and people usually perform more than one role. (The last production of Hamlet I saw had the same actor play Claudius AND the Ghost. Awesome.) But it's just such a great story and has some gorgeous language, so I can always read it.
To perform? Wow. I've been in The Tempest (hated it) and Romeo and Juliet, but that's it. Midsummer would be a lot of fun, as would Taming of the Shrew (Kat's a bitch, but we love her) or Twelfth
( ... )
