The night sky was a beautiful amalgam of sapphire and arsenic. Fulgent patterns of the lights of the Myeongdong shopping precinct and the lit windows that dotted the tall buildings illuminated the night. In the midst of the bustling night life of the city, the Seoul Tower stood magnificently studded with different hues of light from its base all the way to its tip.
He sat on his bed with his back facing the night life with animation and chatter. Leaning on the comfortable headrest of his bed, he conveniently reached out to the bed side table and picked up a book.
Although the full length window that made up most of the wall at the back of his bed gave him a perfect view of the alluring night of Seoul, he rarely took the time to admire it.
He picked on the corner of the page before turning it absentmindedly. He knew Yoochun wouldn’t like the corners of his book ridged but he didn’t really care. Not when he was galled with Yoochun.
Just as he started on a new chapter, a cheery voice interrupted him.
“Jae!”
He didn’t have to look up to see who it was. His eyes were still adhered to the book but were not tracing the lines on the page. Pressing his lips together, he waited for the owner of the voice to make his move.
Yoochun pouted when he didn’t receive any response from the handsome figure on the bed. With a little leap, he landed on the bed on his stomach. His landing caused the Jaejoong to bob a little. In irritation, Jaejoong rolled his eyes behind his book.
A frown made its way onto Yoochun’s face. Jaejoong wasn’t supposed to treat him with such coldness. He expected Jaejoong to hit him on his arm lightly and ask him not to pounce onto the bed like that when he was reading.
“Jae? Are you… mad at me?” He asked as he rolled over and rested his head on Jaejoong’s thighs.
Jaejoong didn’t answer. All he did was to uncross and straighten his legs, denying Yoochun of a more comfortable position.
The younger man cringed when Jaejoong changed his position. He was positive that Jaejoong knew he didn’t like it when he moved but decided against the idea of reminding Jaejoong.
Peering through the gap between Jaejoong and the book, he asked again, “Sweetheart, are you mad at me?”
With his eyes staring straight into the book as though he was trying to burn holes in it, he replied coolly, “Don’t call me ‘sweetheart’, Yoochun. Call that person you were so friendly with just now that. Not me.”
Yoochun flattened his lips together to suppress a grin. Jaejoong wasn’t exactly mad at him; He was jealous.
“Who’s ‘that’ person?”
“You know who I’m talking about.”
“I don’t!” Yoochun rebutted.
“Stop acting stupid around me, Yoochun.” Jaejoong narrowed his eyes, “…Britney~” After his attempted imitation, he twirled his hand in an odd fashion before opening the book to ‘read’ again.
This time, Yoochun couldn’t hold back his laughter.
Jaejoong was actually jealous of the handshake he and Junsu did at the 5th Anniversary Party.
‘No wonder Jae’s facial expression changed so drastically after that,’ He thought to himself.
“Sweetheart, I do that handshake with the rest of the members too!”
Jaejoong was already forming an angry pout. “It’s not only that! And…and the way you smiled at him after he asked you if he pronounced it correctly!” Jaejoong snapped the book closed with his pout still persistent on his face.
“Sweetheart, it’s my signature killer smile. I smile like that to everyone.”
“But… still!”
Yoochun knew better to keep trying to persuade his boyfriend that there’s nothing between him and Junsu.
Turning his body to face Jaejoong’s lean torso, he snuggled into Jaejoong’s well-toned abdomen, earning a small yelp from the older man. Bringing his arms up, Yoochun surrounded Jaejoong’s lanky waist.
“I muff euu!” Yoochun said with his voice muffled by Jaejoong’s stomach.
Jaejoong started giggling from the vibrations Yoochun’s voice was sending his tummy. “What did you say?”
Realising that his voice was dampened by his boyfriend’s midriff, he pulled his head a few inches back before shouting at the top of his lungs, “I LOVE YOU KIM JAEJOONG! I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU!”
By then, Jaejoong had already burst out laughing.
Seeing that Jaejoong wasn’t mad at him anymore, Yoochun grinned smugly before burying his face into Jaejoong’s belly once again.
When Jaejoong finally stopped laughing, he rested his hand on Yoochun’s head as he softly caressed his sideburn.
Letting out a soft sigh, Jaejoong smiled quietly at the man who had never failed to cheer him up no matter what happened. He mentally mocked himself for even doubting Yoochun and getting jealous at such a picayune matter as he stroked the other man’s honey locks.
He slouched as he bent over to face Yoochun.
“Chunnie?”
“…Hmm?”
“I love you too.”
