You’d better watch out, You’d better not cry, You’d better not pout, I'm telling you why, Santa Claus is coming to town~
The chirpy and catchy melodies of Christmas carols were heard from all corners of the apartment.
“Changmin! Where did you hide the cookies for our neighbours!” Jaejoong shouted as he stormed out of the kitchen when he realised that his new batch of cookies were gone.
Seated on the couch was Changmin who was staring right back at Jaejoong with his doe eyes.
“No, don’t you give me that look. Give me the cookies and I promise I’ll get you that Christmas edition ham.”
Changmin’s innocent look was immediately replaced by a deep frown. As much as he wanted that the jar of chocolate chip cookies, his ham was not to be sacrificed too.
Jaejoong was too familiar with all these. First he spends a ridiculous amount of time whipping up something delicious and the next moment, it’s all in Changmin’s stomach.
Exasperated, Jaejoong pleaded, “Minnie, I have to give those cookies to our neighbours. You do know how much trouble we have caused them with our fans fencing up our block every other day, right?”
Changmin nodded with a slight pout forming on his handsome face. He suddenly remembered the lyrics of the Christmas carol and immediately hid the pout - There was no way he was risking his wish of receiving 5 boxes of chicken wings for Christmas.
“Fine. I’ll give the cookies back to you,” he finally conceded to Jaejoong’s plea.
“Now that’s my good- ” but before he could finish his sentence, Changmin cut him off with another demand.
“Provided you get me that Christmas edition ham and those honey baked chicken wings. Deal?”
“Fine, fine. Now return me the cookies.”
Biting his lips, Changmin withdrew the jar of cookies from behind the couch’s cushion and unwillingly passed it to Jaejoong.
With a little tug, Jaejoong managed to retrieve his chocolate babies back.
“Minnie~!” A shout from upstairs gave Changmin a little shock.
He could recognise that voice, but he couldn’t recognise that tone that came with it.
“Oh, it’s Yunho-hyung’s I-need-you-to-do-me-a-favour voice. Shoot, I better run,” realising what was happening, the youngest of the group stood up in an attempt to escape the evil clutches of the leader.
‘Too late,’ He cursed in his head when Yunho blocked his escape route with one swift leap from the staircase.
Yunho smiled sheepishly at his adorable dongsaeng, “So, Minnie~! I was thinking…”
“Pause. Before you even continue, I have to inform you, my fees are 2 tubs of ice cream. If you do not agree to my terms and conditions, kindly turn around and leave.”
“Damn, I should have known better. If Yoochun and Junsu aren’t so busy making out with each other and if Jaejoong didn’t look so attractive baking, I would have never asked you for any favours.” Yunho said as he sighed in defeat.
“Hyung, you talk too much. What is that you need my help for?”
Yunho shot Changmin ‘The Glare’.
“I need you to help me decorate the Christmas tree. Jae wants me to do it but I have something to do right now. Please?”
“Fine. But remember my ice cream. Strawberry and vanilla please!” With that, Changmin walked to the storeroom to find the decorations for their Christmas tree.
With the top half of his body still in the storeroom, Changmin shouted, “Jaejoong-hyung! Do you know where are the lights for the tree?” only to regret it when his loud voice echoed in the storeroom.
“I think they are with Junsu!” Jaejoong replied while trying to bat off Yunho’s arms around his waist.
He dusted the dirt off him as he made his way upstairs to Junsu’s room.
Knocking, he called out, “Hyung? I’m coming in alright?”
As he turned the doorknob, Yunho’s words replayed in his mind, ‘If Yoochun and Junsu aren’t so busy making out with each other…’
‘Making out with each other…’
He wanted to close the door immediately. But it was too late, he had already flung the door wide open.
“OH GOD! MY EYES! THEY BURN!” He shouted frantically when he saw what his hyungs were doing.
As usual, Junsu’s face filled up with red until his face resembled a pulsating, puce tomato and Yoochun, who was too used to getting caught in this situation with Junsu, stared at Changmin who had just invaded their privacy.
“My eyes, they burn too, Changmin. Don’t you knock?”
“I did! It’s not my fault that you two were so engrossed in whatever you were doing!”
Yoochun bit back a grin - it was probably true that he knocked but they didn’t hear.
“What is it you want?”
“Junsu-hyung, …”
“NO! That’s strictly out of bounds. You should know, he’s mine.”
Changmin almost threw up his 3 plates of ramen, 2 bottles of soda and 5 scoops of vanilla ice-cream from tea.
“I so do not want him. I need the light decorations for the Christmas tree.”
Yoochun smiled abashedly when he realised he was being too sensitive. He nudged his boyfriend who still reminded him of a tomato, “Su? Changmin needs the Christmas tree lights.”
“Huh? Oh, they are under my bed.”
“Hyung, I think it would be better for you to take it for me? I have no intention of finding anything else while taking the lights.”
Junsu turned 10 shades redder with that comment. He reached down under his bed and felt for the box of lights.
“There. It’s a little dusty so make sure you clean them before you use them.”
“Thanks, hyung. Oh and I think you two should come down soon, Jaejoong-hyung is almost done with our lunch. I hope.”
“Okay, tell him we’ll be right down.”
Changmin saw Yoochun’s hand tighten around Junsu’s waist, “Yeah right.”
“What?” Yoochun was getting irritated by Changmin’s never leaving presence.
“I said ‘bye’,” he then turned back to leave, closing the door behind him.
“Chunnie? Should we go down already?”
“Just a little while more,” Yoochun cooed as he snuggled against Junsu’s nape.
“But I can already smell the turkey from here! I’m getting hungry.”
“Turkey? What turkey? I can only smell you,” Yoochun said with the legendary bedroom-voice as he took in a deep breath.
“You’re gross, Chunnie.”
“Only for you~”
“Whatever,” He let out his unique laughter that Yoochun loved so much, before struggling out of Yoochun’s tight embrace.
“Wait for me!” Yoochun jumped off the bed as he launched himself towards his target.
And Junsu made his way down the stairs with Yoochun trying to see if he missed out any spots earlier on.
“Jaejoong-hyung! Yoochun and Junsu-hyung are… Oh my god, not you and Yunho-hyung too?!”
The two couples broke apart.
“I’m sorry, Changmin! I didn’t mean to. Now, help Jae carry the plates out.”
“No!”
“Do you want the turkey?”
Changmin sighed, food has always been his weakness. He walked to the kitchen counter and took the plates to the dining table.
Half way through lunch, Yoochun and Changmin began their usual fight for the food.
“I want the wings!”
“Changmin, you already had one!”
“That’s why I should take the other one too!”
“What?!”
“Give. Me. The. Wing. And. No. One. Gets. Hurt.”
Yoochun stuck his tongue out at Changmin.
Changmin looked at Yoochun with his well practised look as tears start to well up in his eyes.
“Chunnie, give him the wing!”
“Susu, why should…”
“I’ll break the wishing bone with you and feed you the log cake later.”
It worked immediately. Yoochun forked the wing onto Changmin’s plate.
The tears that were threatening to roll out vanished instantly and his angelic look turned into an expression of a predator as he eyed his turkey.
“I’m sorry, I have to go back to my room for a little while. My tummy it’s… yeah.”
“Do you need me to go with you?” Yoochun said, all prepared to stand up to leave with Junsu.
“Hyung, Junsu-hyung isn’t 5.”
Yoochun shot Changmin a death glare.
“It’s okay Chunnie. You don’t have to. Enjoy your meal!”
Their lunch carried on with Changmin stealing food from Jaejoong and Yunho’s plates once in a while. And Yoochun arguing with Changmin over who should get the best part of the turkey.
“Gosh, I. Am. So. Full!” Changmin rubbed his already protruding tummy.
“Of course. Who wouldn’t be after finishing half a turkey, 2 bowls of soup and a lot of other god-knows-what goodies.”
Changmin couldn’t be bothered to answer Yoochun. “Say, isn’t Junsu-hyung taking a little long?”
“Oh yeah, my Susu! He has to come down to break the wishing bone with me and feed me the log cake!”
Just as Yoochun was about to go up to find Junsu, he appeared at the stairway.
“You okay?” Yoochun asked, worry clearly evident in his voice.
“Yeah. Shall we break the wishing bone?”
“YES!”
Settling themselves comfortably on the couch, Yoochun and Junsu held on to both ends of the wishing bone.
“1… 2… 3!”
Yoochun was holding on to the larger piece, “Junsu, do you want to make the wish instead?”
“Nope, you got the bigger one so you get to wish.”
“Okay!” Yoochun bent his head down as he made a silent wish.
“What did you wish for! What did you wish for!” all four of them chorused when Yoochun looked back up.
“I can’t say!”
“It has got to do with Junsu, right?” Jaejoong said while chuckling.
“Can’t tell!” The other man replied, blushing. He didn’t have to deny it, all of them knew. It was either for Junsu to love him forever or for their love to last through the next 103502 centuries.
He pushed his piece of the wishing bone into his jeans pockets. “Jaejoong-hyung? Can we have the log cakes now?”
“Now?! But we just had lunch! Aren’t you all still full?
“Nope!” Both Yoochun and Changmin said at the same time.
“Min, didn’t you just say you were full?”
“I didn’t! Now get the cake out!” Changmin bounced on his seat like an excited 3 year old who just got to take a picture with Mickey Mouse.
Laughing at his childlike dongsaeng, Jaejoong stood up and headed for the kitchen.
Unable to control his desire for the cake, Changmin followed Jaejoong to the kitchen to get the forks.
When they returned, Changmin had already started on the cake.
“Sorry guys, I couldn’t stop him.”
The rest nodded in empathy when they saw Jaejoong’s exasperated expression.
The feasting of the cake was filled with cooing like, “say ah~!” while Changmin shut himself out of his hyungs’ world as he helped himself to large scoops of cake.
Finally, the large cake was finished with Changmin taking the last bit.
“The person who last touched it clears!” Yunho shouted as the rest, except Changmin, cheered.
“Fine, fine. I’ll do it.” Grumbling, Changmin cleared up the mess they created over the coffee table.
They spent the rest of the day playing poker cards and poking fun each other.
Soon, it was nearly midnight.
“Chunnie? I have something to show you. Come to my room after counting to 50. Okay?”
Changmin rolled his eyes - It was going to start.
Junsu ran up the stairs with Yoochun’s eyes fixed on that butt of his.
“48…49…50!” Yoochun dashed up the stairs at record speed.
“Su? Are you ready? I’m coming in!”
“Come in!”
Pushing the door open, he saw red and green candles that were lit up, decorating the entire room.
He walked in and locked the door behind him.
There were matching helium balloons around the room too.
“Su, this is…?”
He was about to cry. Although he loved Junsu very much and he knew he loved him back the same, and that he had always been able to make happiness explode inside him, Junsu had never done something like that for him before.
He had always thought it was the ‘man’s’ job to plan surprises. Seeing all this, he could feel his heart stop beating. He was getting giddy from all bolts of happiness in him.
“Merry Christmas, my darling Chunnie!” Junsu held up a box wrapped with gold wrapping paper.
“What’s in this?” Yoochun shook the box. The box wasn’t small but it sure did feel light for its size.
“Open it!”
Without hesitation, Yoochun yanked the wrapper open.
Junsu’s jaw dropped when he saw how his painfully wrapped present was being ripped opened and how the golden paper landed lightly on the floor in shreds.
He shook his head and made a mental note to just use newspaper the next time. Hell, he wasn’t even going to wrap Yoochun’s next present seeing how rough Yoochun was with it.
Throwing the cover of the box onto the floor, which sent Junsu’s jaw flying to the ground again, he stared at the contents of the box. Confusion washed over him.
He took out the red and green ribbon from the box and let the box fall to the ground with a soft thud.
“Junsu? What is this?”
Junsu took the ribbon from Yoochun’s hands. With his eyes never leaving Yoochun’s he tied the ribbon over his head.
“Chunnie baby, do you like your Christmas present?”
“Hell, YES!”
Little did they know, Changmin was already preparing pillows, blankets and earplugs to isolate himself from the world of his hyungs.
