Unseen Love

"Junsu-ah," Yoochun said absentmindedly as he smoothed Junsu's hair.

“Hm?” Junsu replied as he looked into Yoochun’s eyes while straddling his lap.

“Nothing. Just wanted to feel your name on my tongue,” he giggled as he continued to play with the other’s hair.

“You’re weird.”

“I love you too.”

“I didn’t say I love you! I said-”

“Yah, I love you too. I just said it, didn’t I?” A grin spread itself across Yoochun’s face before it was squashed away when Junsu clamped his face between his palms.

“Junsu-ah,” Yoochun said when Junsu finally released him.

“Don’t tell me you were trying to feel my name on your tongue again.”

Laughing, he pinched the other’s cheeks, “I’m not. I was wondering… do you want to accompany me when I meet up with Changmin tomorrow?”

“Changmin?”

“He’s my junior from university. We have been close friends since then. And you’ve never seen him before, so I was thinking if you would like to come along.”

“Well, that really depends on you, doesn’t it? If you want me to go along with you, I will.”

“Really!”

Junsu narrowed his eyes playfully, “Yeah… Haven’t you learnt that fact since the day you met me?”

Yoochun lunged forwards and buried his face in Junsu’s chest as he hugged him closer.

/

“Yoochun-hyung! Over here!”

“Minnie!” Yoochun widened his steps and made his way between the congested tables and chairs towards Changmin.

“Yoochun-ah, he’s Changmin?”

“Yeah, that’s my oh-so-adorable junior from university,” after replying Junsu, Yoochun burst into a fit of chuckles.

Ignoring the weird stares the people around him were giving him, he continued his journey towards Changmin.

Yoochun stole a glance at Junsu and felt a need to assure him when he saw that worried expression plastered on Junsu’s face. “Don’t worry, Changmin is a nice person.”

Junsu gave Yoochun a little smile and hooked his arm around Yoochun’s.

As they sat around the table, the waitress came around to take their orders.

Nudging Yoochun from the side, Junsu muttered, “I don’t want anything.”

“You sure?”

“Hyung, what did you say?”

“Oh urm, I said I want a glass of orange juice.”

After ordering their drinks, Junsu remained silent as Yoochun and Changmin started to chat about almost everything under the sun.

In the midst of the heated conversation, Changmin suddenly cut Yoochun off, “Hyung, I have to use the washroom. I’m really sorry.” Mumbling, he stood up awkwardly, “I bet it’s the two dozen donuts I ate yesterday.”

Chuckling, Yoochun nodded and hurried Changmin off before he embarrassed himself there and then in front of a whole cafeteria of people.

When Changmin disappeared around the corner, Yoochun turned to Junsu, “Su-ah, are you always this shy around new people?”

Junsu didn’t look up to meet Yoochun’s eyes. Neither did he choose to reply Yoochun. Playing with his fingers, he said softly, “Can we go already?”

“Is anything the matter?”

”I’m…I’m feeling kind of left out.”

Smiling understandingly, Yoochun stood up to leave.

Just then, Changmin returned from the washroom, “Hyung, you’re leaving?”

“Yeah, I have something on. Sorry! We’ll meet up some other time!” Yoochun replied as he turned his palm to hold onto Junsu’s hand.

Shifting his eyes to Yoochun’s hand, Changmin suppressed a question making its way up his throat. With a confused smile, he managed a cheerful goodbye, “See you, then!”

/

“Junsu-yah.”

“Hm?”

“I think I should tell Changmin.”

“About?”

“Us. Changmin and I are really close and we don’t really keep secrets from each other… You think?”

A pause and Yoochun was starting to get fidgety about what Junsu was going to reply.

“You know he won’t accept it. You saw how he looked at you when you held my hand. He’ll probably send you somewhere to get rid of me. But if you want to, I won’t stop you. I won’t be able to anyway.”

Yoochun nodded. He was about to say something when he heard the other mumbled something just loud enough for him to hear.

“Besides, don’t you think it’s enough to know that we love each other, even without the approval of anyone?”

And Yoochun had an urge to hug that adorable figure.

/

“Hello? Min?”

“Myung?”

“Are you eating?” Yoochun muffled a chuckle with the back of his hand as he said into his cell phone.

“Yeah. I’m haming cheese cakes. Do youm want some? I might mee able to save some for you.”

“Firstly, I don’t think that’s ever possible. Secondly, I don’t like cheese cakes.”

“Fime, I’ll take back my offer then. Anyway, is there anything you want to talk about?”

“I was thinking, do you want to meet up later?”

“Your treat?” Before Yoochun could even reply, Changmin interrupted with a happy outburst, “Yay, thanks! I’ll meet you at Evergreen Café at three, okay?”

Yoochun laughed at how his junior forced him into things, “Okay, see you later!’ And he heard a click after a satisfied hum from the other end of the line.

“Junsu, I’m going out to meet Changmin. Come with me?”

Smiling in defeat, Junsu replied, “I have to, don’t I?”

Yoochun laughed sheepishly before he trotted to the bathroom to change into a fresh set of clothes.

/

“Changmin!” Yoochun shouted across the café as he clutched Junsu’s hand with his own.

Changmin shifted his gaze to Yoochun’s hand before replying with the same amount of zest, “Hyung!”

“To apologize for leaving so abruptly the other time, I’ve decided to treat to tea!”

“You serious?!” Changmin’s eyes widened in surprised and excitement, “So I can order whatever I like?”

At Yoochun’s side, Junsu mumbled, “Was I too unreasonable for wanting to leave that day?”

“No, -”

“I can’t order whatever I like?” A visible pout started to form on Changmin’s handsome face.

“Huh? No, I wasn’t talking to you. You can order whatever you like!”

All questions were halted as, to Changmin, food was always his number one. With little hops between his steps, he made his way to the counter in record speed.

Yoochun chuckled at Changmin as he jabbed excitedly at the menu to the waitress at the counter.

“Chunnie, was I too unreasonable that day?”

Yoochun shifted his gaze back to Junsu. “No, you were not.”

Obviously, Junsu wasn’t convinced. Lowering his head, he said dejectedly, “I was…Wasn’t I?”

“No, you were not,” Yoochun repeated. “Don’t fret too much. Changmin will start to question me if he-” and he was cut off when Changmin came hopping back with a number tag.

“Hyung! Look, my favourite number!”

Staring at that bright yellow pyramid with a blue number two on it, Yoochun asked, “I never knew they had number tags. And I never knew they took orders that fast.”

“Yeah, I didn’t either. The lady at the counter said because my order is too large, they need more time to prepare so…” Changmin grinned as he settled the number tag on the table top.

When the food came, Changmin devoured the bowl of ramen as though he hasn’t eaten for the past five years.

“Changmin, are you that hungry?”

“Quite. I didn’t eat my… high tea today. Aren’t… you eating?” Changmin replied between slurps of strawberry smoothie.

“No, if we ate, I’ll burn a black hole in my pocket.”

Changmin raised an eyebrow at Yoochun but didn’t bother saying anything as he lowered his head back to the Kimchi fried rice set in front of him.

“So, hyung, are you working nowadays?” Changmin never liked people doing nothing but just watching him as he ate. So, he broke the ice by asking anything he thought of.

“Sort of?”

“What do you… mean?” He smiled inwardly as he stabbed a prawn with his fork and shook it victoriously as he opened his mouth to welcome the injured piece of meat.

“I’m composing songs and putting them on the net. Junsu’s helping me with them,” Yoochun replied proudly although it earned a nudge from Junsu.

Yoochun could tell Changmin wasn’t really listening to him as the younger man just answered a distracted, “Oh…” after what he said. Not that Yoochun was complaining, though.

“Min, are you still single?”

Chocking, Changmin took a slurp of his ice-blended mango smoothie to wash the food down. “What’s with that sudden question! Yeah, I’m still single. Why?”

“Just asking. You should find yourself someone, you know.”

“Pot calling the kettle black, hyung.”

“No, I’m not a pot. I do have a-OW!”

Junsu slapped Yoochun’s thigh to stop him from continuing what he intended to say.

“Woah, hyung, what happened?!”

“Uh…er, nothing,” Yoochun gave Junsu an adorable pout as he rubbed the abused spot.

“You know he won’t believe you,” Junsu hissed.

“We’ll never know if I never try!”

“Mhuh?” Changmin looked up from his banana split.

Junsu gave Yoochun a glare to stop him from telling Changmin.

Knowing better to disobey Junsu, Yoochun carried on smoothly, “I said, hurry and eat.”

“Fine, fine. Don’t rush me!” Changmin puckered his lips as he went back to his ice cream.

Finally, after an hour, Changmin finished a bowl of ramen, a plate of fried rice, three scoops of vanilla ice cream, one banana split, a glass of strawberry smoothie and a glass of ice-blended mango smoothie.

Standing up, Changmin stretched himself. “God, I’m so full~!” Changmin rubbed his tummy before he plopped down onto the chair.

“But my wallet isn’t,” Yoochun sighed as he fished out the said object out of his bag.

“I can help you pay!” Changmin offered but was soon turned down by Yoochun.

“No thanks, I have a feeling you’ll take more money than what is actually needed.”

“What-!”

“You heard me,” Yoochun confirmed. Standing up, he whispered to a Junsu who was looking anything but entertained, “Su-ah, come on. Let’s go pay.”

Changmin raised his eyebrows. Now that he didn’t have any distractions, all the question marks came right back up to him.

“Hyung…”

“I said, I’ll pay. Now just sit down and wait for us. Alright?” He pulled Junsu up by his hand.

“It’s not that… It’s… You’ve been really weird today. You keep talking to yourself, you do funny actions, like what you just did, and you even used words like ‘we’ to refer to yourself. Are you… okay?”

For a second, he forgot.

Laughing, Yoochun replied, “Are you trying to pull my leg? Cos you aren’t doing it very well. Can’t you see, I’m obviously talking to-”

And he was stopped.

“Chunnie, don’t bother. You know he can’t see me, I’m just your imagination.”
