I need to apologize to netflix. I returned the new Bond movie to them as faulty, and have since found out that it was my DVD player. The audio just went out, don't you think that's weird? I thought initially that I had hooked it up wrong, after removing the other VCR, but after fiddling around with various connections, I still had video and no sound. So, after almost a week with no DVD's (ugh) I went to Best Buy the other evening and bought a Panasonic combo. Naturally, it cost twice as much as I thought it would ,as they only had 3 to choose from. The cheapest one was out of stock, and the Sony can't be hacked, so that left the $300 Panasonic. I hooked it up yesterday, and it did play the DVD I inserted, but I don't know if I've connected it right or not. I followed the diagram for satellite hook ups, but it didn't say what to do with the antenna which used to go from the Directv box to the TV and then the old VCR. So, I hooked up 3 more cables from the box to the DVD player. If it can't get the channels sorted, then I'll know I did something wrong! If so, I'll call Directv and make them sort it out.
I watched 'Twilight' last night, and can't really see what all the fuss is about. Maybe if I was 15? There's really no story as far as I can see. But, we have some avid fans here at work. I'm trying to convert them to better vampire writers like Tanya Huff, and even Laurell Hamilton's earlier books which at least are more erotic, but a lot more violent.
I also went to see 'Angels and Demons' on Monday, and there was hardly anyone there, it was great. I enjoyed this movie a lot more than the last, but I still think the casting is weird. Tom Hanks is such a strange choice for Langdon. It was fascinating seeing Rome, a lot of Rome, and the Vatican city. I must finish the book now!
