On Saturday, I worked at a dance for mentally disabled adults and it was strange, but super fun. Mostly, I just made random conversation and danced. I wore my Amazing Boots, but I haven't worn them in forever (for some reason I have more nice shoes than comfy shoes at the moment, how did that happen?) so they gave me blisters, ouch. Anyway, the dance was fun, up until the DJ (a strange, strange man) played his last song, which happened to be Boten Anna. A slow version. That he sang himself. Can we say disaster? After the dance, I went to GG and Grímur's, where there were more boys than girls (woah!), and lots of sushi. And later, there was great conversation and music and a lot of soda.
On Sunday I stupidly wore the same boots (they didn't feel quite so amazing, then) and a dress, but it was cold. So it was possibly the most uncomfortable outfit ever. But hey, they say beauty is pain. We had about 398174 relatives over for waffles in the afternoon, and then I went to Hressó with Vera for sleazy food - only, they don't make sleazy vegetarian food so I ended up having something semi-healthy that was served with salad. We also went to see Das Leben der Anderen (The Lives Of Others), which was surprisingly good. Although I spent the first 15 or 20 minutes staring at the screen thinking about how this was the most uninteresting beginning to a movie I'd seen. But, the rest totally made up for it and it was strangely funny, too.
Today, I didn't wear the boots. Obviously, since my job involves kicking a soccer ball around on a muddy field, and I'd rather not ruin my nice shoes. But it was a nice day, and I played basketball and soccer and ran around laughing hysterically and jumped off the swings and rolled around in the grass. On sunny days, I have The Best Job Ever. Actually, it's always the best job, so.
And in the very near future, there's the Eurovision Song Contest (eeee, crap music!!), Auður's Movie Night (where there will be Pizza and Saved! and But I'm a Cheerleader) elections (uh-oh) and a trip to Paris (wheee!!). And then Svava comes home from Finland (I CANNOT WAIT) and there'll be Indian food and a crazy party, and then it's summer and my birthday and sunshine and biking and mountain climbing and arts festivals and camping trips.
Right now, I should probably be sleeping, but I can't. I blame
seasons, for introducing me to Hello Saferide, who is the most adorable Swedish girl ever. Cuteness overload! And when I listen to a certain type of music (this would be it) I get all giddy and hyper and that just makes sleep impossible.
