Gleðileg jól!

So Christmas Eve is our Big Fancy Day here, and that was yesterday. Today, I only plan on hanging around in my PJs, eating chocolate, watching movies and trying to decide if I should eat MEAT tonight (hangikjöt - the traditional Christmas Day dish - is the only meat I've actually ever liked, but I haven't yet decided if I'm making an exception for it this year. I did last year and it was goooooood).

Last night was good. We ate super quickly like we always do and then spent ages cleaning up before opening presents. Afi spent the night with us, which was nice, and then went back to the hospital after we opened up presents. After that we played board games - Draumaeyjan, which is pretty much just a rip-off of Catan, and Blokus, which is so addictive! Went to sleep way, way too late, slept until early afternoon and had chocolate (and Frískamín!) for breakfast. Yaaaaay christmas!

So here's the annual list of presents (mostly for my own reference because I'll forget what everyone gave me, but if anyone wants to know what I got they can read too...)

Tryggðarpantur by Auður Jónsdóttir (from my parents - sososo excited to read this book!)

An apple slicer! (from my parents - I have an unhealthy obsession with apples...)

Fancy candles (from Hjördís and my favorite boy Viktor)

RENT (from helgamar and strawberrytatoo - I already own it but now I get to go exchange it for something fun!)

Imagine Me & You (from verav - my mom is super excited about watching this one!)

March of the Penguins and Stick it (from my sisters - they know me TOO WELL HAH! Stick it is the best movie EVER)

A Short History of Tractors in Ukranian (from svoskars - I've been wanting to read this so yay!)

Some fancy chocolates and christmas ornaments (from Seyðisfjörður)

Coffee, tea, chocolate and a movie ticket (from work - I don't drink coffee but I donated it to my parents)

These boots - the black ones (from my parents - my mom picked them out all by herself with a little help from the girl in the shop who told her Dylana owns the same boots, so obviously she had to buy them... I think my mom has a girl crush on Dylana...)

Some weird knitted slippers with a scary animal face (from Dagur & family)

Plus the presents for "the family" - this year the family gave itself a sewing machine (eeeeee!) and Draumalandið (a board game based on a book), and we got a fondue set from Logi & family. I proposed a fondue party. The family voted against. Boo.

christmas, family, lists
