Yeah. So last night I watched the finals of the Eurovision song contest. Something is seriously wrong with Europe's taste in music.
Greece won. With a pretty crappy song. Was just your regular pop song with exceptionally bad lyrics. Nice dancing, though. Malta came in second, with a pretty boring slow ballad, but the woman who sang it was fantastic! Third and fourth were Romania and Israel, both decent songs and performances. Fifth though, was LATVIA. Of all things. For a while it looked like they might win, and all of us were screaming out of anger every time they got points. Granted, we also screamed when Greece got points, put we had to settle for Greece in the end, cause it was WAY better than Latvia. Latvia was represented by two INCREDIBLY cheesey looking guys, and a song called The war is not over... makes me want to puke, really.
Only two of the songs I was rooting for made it into the top ten, and one wasn't even a song I really liked, I was mostly hoping it'd do good cause all my friends loved it... Norway ended up in 9th place.
The song I REALLY wanted to win was Switzerland... cute girl band (cause I'm a sucker for cute girl bands) with a decent song... they were close to the top during the first half of the voting, and even in first place for a while, but they ended up in 8th place. Not too bad, but still far, far away from 1st place. Their song is called "Cool Vibes", but during the semi-finals, it sounded like the singer was singing, "Kuwait, why don't you kill me?". They fixed that in the finals, so extra points for that!
My other two songs (Hungary and Bosnia & Herzegovina) came in 12th and 14th. The song that came in last (Germany) was, in my opinion, better than the song that won. Ah, well.
