I love spring. This time of year, the flowers peek through, the babies are born, and the plants bring back their greenery. Thursday I found a nest of raccon kits. So cute. There were 5 all curled up sleeping. The mother just looked at me and let me admire them. I suspect one of my rabbits is pregnant. Hopefully, i'll be able to watch the little ones be born. A
And now for my biggest news. My cats found a baby kangaroo rat in the house. So I caught it and put it outside. After I got it there, it just sat in my hand and looked around. Usually rats or mice tear off as soon as i get them outside. Finally, I set him on the ground and he crawled around chewing on different plants. So I went inside and got some of Pippers food and brought it back. And there was the little rat, chewing on a seed he had found just waiting for me. So I picked him back up and gave him the food. He ate then, he crawled off my hand and started cleaning itself. Then I went back inside and got him some water. He drank it. He or she, as i later found out, was extremely tiny. I knew then, that she was too tiny to survive on her own. Probably, there is a nest underneath the house and this little wandered away and somehow ended up in the house. So I brought her inside and put her in a cage and am caring for her. She is very sweet. I can pick her up and pet her and she doesn't mind. I named her Roo-Roo for Roo in Winnie the Pooh. Very sweet.
I now have to finish writing my xerox award paper. And everything else that I must do.
Is anybody going to the banquet? I'm planning on going now.
