OH GOSH, THIS IS GOOD. ♥ It's got this overall tone of brisk matter-of-factness that is so suited to Adelle and to Dominic; I love that.

Crazy list time!

+ The overall depiction of Whiskey/Claire is so eerie, the way she's kind of just slipping away into Whiskey again -- eep.

+ Priya sighs and finally looks up at her. "If I were you, I'd watch my back. He's really pissed."

"It's not as if I was expecting a smile and a kiss on the cheek," says Adelle. She doesn't need Priya to state the obvious for her.

ADELLE, YOU ARE THE BOMB. UNSURPRISING, BUT STILL AWESOME.

+ "But I'm starting to think that was a bad idea, because I don't think he wanted protection from whatever's out there. I think he wanted it to deal with you."

Gah, I just love all of this! It's so cool to get a set-up for the Epitaph One Scene o' Glory.

+ What she hadn't been prepared for was, "Sorry, he left. But we're fairly certain he's coming back because he indicated that he would really like to kill you."

ADELLE, YOU ARE MY SNARKY HERO.

+ I LOVE THEIR WHOLE POST-THE SCENE CONVERSATION SO MUCH, it is perfection.

"I don't think you're going to kill me, Mr. Dominic," says Adelle. Her voice sounds steadier than she feels, and she's rather proud of herself for that. "I think you'd like for me to be scared, and I'll admit that you were initially quite successful, but I don't think you're going to kill me. I don't think you can."

Guh, Adelle! (Yeah, sorry, this fic is like one big testament as to why I am in perpetual awe of her.) And the fact that he just leaves -- awesome.

+ Suicidal or just a damn idiot! LOVE, LOVE.

+ "You'd think by that point I would have learned not to put so much faith in you."

Augh, ZING! I love their dialogue in this so much. It's this weird combination of brutally caustic and strangely civil, or a parody of civil, that is just so them. This is so how these people would deal with an apocalyptic crisis.

+ "After all that time in the Attic it actually seems kind of normal. At least it seems like nobody's resorted to cannibalism yet. And it's better than going crazy from claustrophobia down here."

Oh, DOM. ♥ I love how you point out that he's already pretty much been hanging in hell forever anyway.

+ "Excellent work out there, Adelle," he says, and clinks his glass against hers.

I GENUINELY WANT TO BUILD SHRINES TO THIS. It is just so OH SNAP. Which, er, that's the least eloquent summary ever. But it's just like -- the bitterness/civility thing again! To such awesome degrees! Augh, I love these guys!

+ He takes a sip of his drink, and she drinks nearly half of hers before she speaks.

I just love the little characterization detail there.

+ "And since when do you care so much about my safety?" he asks.

Adelle downs the rest of her glass, which quite frankly could have been bigger, and then leans in as close to him as she dares. "I have gone to great effort to keep you alive, Laurence. And I would just as soon you not sabotage my attempts."

AUGH, YOU GUYS, HOW ARE YOU SO AWESOME. This dialogue is so perfect. If any of this happened on the show, I would expect it to be exactly like this.

+ He leaves the house again, of course, because he has always had a petty and spiteful streak a mile wide. But he somehow manages to find a bottle of vodka for her in that picked over wasteland, and even though it's the cheapest looking bottle of alcohol she's ever seen it's still enough to take the edge of her anger and frustration.

I love this detail so much. Still that weird chivalry in his actions toward her, even though it's sort of mocking, even though it's a terrible bottle of vodka.

Awww, thank you so much ♥! I am so glad you liked it!

I love writing Whiskey, because there is just unlimited potential for both niceness and incredibly creepiness. Because with all of the other dolls it feels like at the end of the day we gets hints of who they were originally even when they're imprinted, but with all of Whiskey's imprints it's just... more Whiskey.

AWWW, AND YOU PULLED OUT ALL THOSE ADELLE LINES I WAS SO PROUD OF MYSEL FOR ♥! And every time I talk about her recently, I want to make a really terrible pun about how her name is DeWitt and she is so witty, but then I feel too much like Topher so I stop myself!

I love their dialogue in this so much. It's this weird combination of brutally caustic and strangely civil, or a parody of civil, that is just so them.

Aww, thank you so much! I like the idea of them, post-Attic, slipping back into this sort of vaguely professional and civil relationship that that is their traditional way of communicating, and yet with all of their incredible anger issues coming up and twisting it into something really, really vicious (like, at first, until they get to the making out part of their relationship).
