Doug emailed me about an ambush. My first thought was oh god it's real. He shot at people because they were shooting at him and then there was blood because they killed this guy. Oh god this is real for him. I feel a little sick. I wish he hadn't sent that to me. Lately we've been emailing about cars. He wants to buy a car in Eugene and then have me ship it to him Alaska. I had deluded myself into thinking that he was just tooling around Iraq, checking things out, not really in any danger. I wish I could revert to that. He's going to get a medal for facing enemy fire. Who cares?
