I agree about the schools whining. That's why I am really interested to hear about schools that went way over the top with their videoboard stuff. I mean, I can't even imagine what could be done with a videoboard that would be so influential in a kid's decision-making. For us, it was almost always just something to have on in the background while a kid and his family were touring the Field House which is where a lot of the sports trophies are. By most accounts, the kids got a big kick out of it, but I still can't see how someone would say, "Man, seeing my name in gigantic Arial font is really what sealed the deal."

I guess I attended 7 home football games, 2 road football games, 18 home basketball games, 1 road game, 1 ACC BB Tourney game (ugh), and 2 NCAA BB games. So my best guess is 31. Baseball had mostly day games this year (and we were terrible), so I didn't make it out to any of those. This doesn't count the weekly Coaches Radio Shows, Coaches Luncheons, recruiting events, banquets, watching games on TV/radio, attending practices, scrimmages, or the almost weekly lunches I have with some Wake fools to talk about...Wake sports.

Yes, I invest a ton of time in Wake athletics from say August until basketball ends.

The book actually doesn't say "motivates" it says, "driving force." It gives exampes like many people are driven by resentment, anger, fear, materialism, need for approval, or guilt. Obviously, these are supposed to be examples of things that probably shouldn't be your driving force in life.

The book also asks what I want my driving force to be.

Anyway, it got me thinking. I couldn't pin it down so well at the time. I'd like to say I am driven by wanting to help improve the lives of those that are important to me.

What would my life be without Wake sports? Pretty boring.
