TPS Reports, Emo Kids n' Indie Bands, European Beers

Chico is going well, although today I may have blown my head off if'n it weren't for the previous night's activities.

To reclaim sanity, a fellow trainee and myself were able to escape the hotel and spend a few hours out on the town. Regrettably, I was the sole person who got excited about knowing there was karaoke in town, and near the hotel. Instead, however, we made our way to the college-town area of Chico and almost accidentally shambled into a bar (I think it was called La Saille; couldn't tell with its crazy lettering font) which charged five dollars to listen to some California-based Indie Rock. I don't think there was a pate unadorned by thick-framed glasses, or a frame that wasn't squished into an ultra-tight hoodie, in that whole place. The first band, I believe they were called The Oaks, played music very much like The Kaiser Chiefs, which was able to comfortably accomodate a cover of "Hey, Jealousy" by the Gin Blossoms.

I could've gotten into it, but once again, my companion could not, so we did finally agree on the surroundings at a pub called The Banshee (which was the major selling point). Not a bad place, but I suppose in keeping with the slightly pretentious airs of a liberal arts college town, it was treated more like a coffee shop in that there were games going on at every table (but more like gambling games; there were dice, cards, and dominoes taking place). I could've gotten into it again, but by that time it was time to head back to the hotel and wake up to the nightmare that was TPS reports (I laughed too, g'head) and piles of paperwork that we need to go through every time we do an install.

I can't complain too heavily, though there are some concepts I absolutely need to get a hang of by Saturday's exam, or its me nuts in a sling as far as employment is concerned. I found out at least I'm coming home through to January. I'll get my shadow training done by Jan. 19th, and then I'll be on my own out in SAN DIEGO! At least i'll be getting that decent introduction to California that isn't rain-soaked and in the high 40's.
