Remember rememeber the fifth of November!

Still tired.

Just want to sleep, but I have a NaNo meet tonight and then off to the Jackals event tomorrow straight from work. At least I shouldn't have trouble sleeping in the new tent - I'm so knackered I could sleep anywhere.

As further proof (if any were needed) that our cat is an idiot, he decided to shelter from the noise of the fireworks by hiding in the home of the crazy cat painting neighbour. To give her some credit she seemed a lot less crazy last night and came to our door to say that he'd snuck in through her catflap (I still think catflaps than any cat can access are stupid) and wouldn't leave.

I entered the blue house of crazy (which was largely the same shade as Chad had previously come home) and had to chase a very wide eyed cat around her lounge before finally securing him and running home with him in my arms. I'd nearly made it back when he freaked, stuck a claw through the back of my hand and scarpered. As soon as I opened the front door he streaked past me into the safety of home.

Silly animal.

The cut on my hand is impressive. The little sod has razorblades for toes.

Lewes was fun, as always. We saw the Waterloo display as usual, but found a nice new spot to watch it from - rather than being in the crowded, muddy field with the smoke blowing toward us and next to the thirty foot wall of flames they call a bonfire (it is an impressive fire, I'll give them that - you can't look at it without searing your face off), we found a little footbridge over the river behind the site. The smoke was blowing away from us, we got a great view of the fireworks and we even saw them reflected in the river, which was quite pretty. We should definitely try to find that bridge again.

The big finale of the display didn't go off because it was too damp, which is a shame. Still, the fireworks they did send up were very pretty.

The only downers were the rain (it was lovely and mild, so we didn't need the fire for heat, but it did drizzle the whole evening) and the bitch who had a go at us when watching the procession. When she commented to her friends that we were the reason the young had no respect for their elders these days, I really wanted to turn around and point out that in fact she was - I have no reason to respect someone who swears at, threatens and physically assaults people for no good reason, and all in front of their own two year old. That's right, love, show your toddler how to behave. She told moose_biscuit she hoped she fell in the road and got burned to death, and she gave me a proper hard shove into the road - not just a jostle, but actually put her hands on my back and pushed as hard as she could. I really wanted her to do it again when there was a copper standing next to us so I could have her done up for common assault. Another fine example to the child that her mother is an utter bitch.

Some people really can't enjoy themselves if they're not having a bad time and ruining it all for other people. She put me in a really bad mood. Sometimes I actually wish I didn't have such a tight rein on my temper, because turning around and giving her an earful would have been quite therapeutic. I let Moose Biscuit respond to her instead, and then we just tried to ignore her while she badmouthed us to her friends for ten minutes.

Anyway, aside from El Bitcho, the parade was fun (there were at least two Alastair Darling guys and the usual show of nice costumes and good marching bands) and the fireworks were pretty, and we even managed to get a train as far as Portslade (after a couple of changes), so we were home at about 12.45am, to tend to the shell shocked kittie,

rants, lewes, fireworks, chad
