Howdichiwa!

Great Maelstrom event this weekend. I was very very busy most of the weekend. Lots of religious shit kicked off, which kept us priests busy. We were involved in (and largely organised) a mass supplication on the saturday night to try to get some answers to all the weird shit going on with the gods, and it was quite pleasing when, the next morning, I mentioned the supplication to other priests at a religious meeting and some exclaimed "That was you?". It seems reports of our big supplication spread far and wide.

So, yes, very busy. The thing with LARP weekends is that I come home needing another weekend just to recover. I'm completely knackered, and have done something to much of my right side - my neck, shoulder and hip are all quite painful. I also have the bruised knees I always return from Maelstrom with - no, nothing rude, thank you - we're a Japanese and Chinese inspired culture and as such haven't developed the concept of chairs, so spend most of our time kneeling on cushions, which takes its toll on the old knees. It makes it quite novel when we visit other cultures and are offered actual chairs to sit on, though. And cake.

We made some new acquaintances in character - we now have friends in Mil-en who have invited our little gang of priestesses to a Mil-enese ball next event, with formal dancing and everything. It sounds like it'll be very different from the sort of parties we throw in our camp, so it should be fun - Mil-en is basically pre-Revolution France, so lots of flouncy clothes, powdered wigs, dueling, dancing and, most importantly cake.

We're also getting a higher profile among the religious types from other groups, and with the refs, the latter showing dividends already. We supplicated for a blessing for me on saturday morning, and within a couple of hours I got a visit from a messenger of the gods bestowing exactly the gift I'd asked for. It's the first supplication we've done that's shown clear, tangible results. My little gang of three Weaver priestesses submit a hell of a lot of prayers (the three of us must do as many as a dozen a day each, possibly more - I lose count) and get involved in (and lead) a lot of supplications to the gods - just on sunday, which was only a half day, we took part in four supplications.

Getting the attention of the refs means we also seem to have caught the attention of the Eidelons (angels, for the uninitiated), who may get their IC orders from the gods but actually do the bidding of the refs. I was approached by several over the course of the weekend, which felt very odd - they usually come looking for the Chairman, my boss-lady, but these wanted me. One has even offered to provide whatever help I need in the coming seasons and plans to find some Kamakuran bling so that he doesn't look so out of place in our compound. There was also a very strange encounter with an Eidelon in Kamakuran garb who not only spoke in something that barely qualified as a whisper, but also covered his face with a fan so that I couldn't even read his lips. That made for an interesting chat - I kept on having to ask him to repeat himself. And I still don't know what he actually wanted. Which is odd.

So, yes, good weekend IC. OC... I am a very naughty SheBit. *cough*

I want to curl up somewhere and sleep, but have to be at work, which is unfortunate.

I'm looking forward to downtime opening so I can see how much all our hard work has paid off - my blessing supposedly means that I can learn new priestly skills more quickly, so if I'm very lucky the skill which wasn't going to be completed until next year might be mine by next event. Woot.

Oh, and I made several people giggle by going slightly OC (it was within about ten minutes of time out being called on sunday afternoon, so not too naughty) and stating that "Kami Wudan has a flaver!". When Wudan stated that he and the other Eidelons can manifest with a flavour I just couldn't resist.

Also, 'Bitchin Day' is great fun - an Arteman tradition whereby, for one whole day, you're obliged to insult everyone. I questioned the head Cossack's ability to hold his vodka and the intelligence and appearance of several of the Artemen. This was fun.

Also also, I barely drank anything all weekend. Seriously. After last event where, for the first time in my life, I actually lost a chunk of memory (which I doubt I will ever regain), I decided to go easy this time, and stayed sober all weekend. All I drank was few sips of stuff going round, a couple of glasses of barrel juice and maybe three rounds in the vodka bar. All weekend. The result was a pleasing lack of hangovers, which meant that I was much more with it and in the mood to RP properly (which was just as well when my character was kept so busy).

It can be sleep time naow?
