Chicken dinners all 'round!

What the hell is with my psyche's current obsession with school?

I can understand having anxiety dreams, because I'm quite anxious about the outcome of the interview, but my anxiety dreams are almost always about being late for work or a meeting - grown up lateness.

Last night, for the second night in a row, I dreamed about being late for school. This time around I did eventually get there though. For some reason I was going back to study at my secondary school, but now, at this age. Someone I went to school with was also studying there and had been for a while, so she was showing me the ropes. The odd thing there is that she never went to the school - we were at primary and middle school together and then she went off to the local grammar at 11.

Obviously things had changed at the old school in the intervening eleven years since I finished my GCSEs. Slight changes in uniform are understandable - and my new uniform was quite spiffy - but the other changes were a little odd. Presumably to combat the poor home diets of the pupils, wednesday nights were 'chicken night', when the school arranged taking every student out for dinner (usually chicken, hence the name). Considering that in my day the school had about 600 pupils I have no idea how the school paid for such an extravagance every week.

The other odd change was that every friday in school was 'Crimson Day', when, as far as I could tell from the description - I think I dreamed my way through monday to wednesday, so I never saw it first hand - everyone had to dress emo. I guess it was the school's way of encouraging acceptance of other cultures, by making everyone, be they chav, geek or anything else, dress like a subculture they'd normally mock.

No, I don't know what my psyche's on either, but apparently it wants to go back to school.
